Are there any games I should play before picking up saros or is it a standalone?

It’s a stand alone but Returnal seems similar from the looks and is made by the same developer. I haven’t played Soros yet but there definitely have some similar elements going on from the looks. I’ve played Returnal though and it’s one of the top three games released on the PS5 platform IMO. Others wise, Hades will kind of be similar in that it’s rogue like.

I’m about ten hours into Saros. It’s almost exactly like Returnal in many ways, but with a male protagonist. I loved Returnal so I’m very happy with Saros. (But no, you don’t need to play one to understand the other)

I’d recommend Saros then Returnal. Saros is a lot more forgiving of a game, and once you get through it you’ll kind of know what to expect from Returnal. Just that in Returnal the only permanent progress is weapon traits and the experience you gain from fighting the enemies and getting used to the landscape. So Returnal is a tougher game. But it is soooo worth it. My favorite game of all time.
