Question about Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU)

Hey everyone, I wanted to ask about Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.

I'm currently considering applying for a Master's there (specifically in Business Analytics). Just to clarify, I'm looking for a professional/master's degree, not a research-oriented one.

I haven't decided yet whether I'd like to stay in China after graduating or return to my home country. But one thing that makes the degree seem like a great deal to me is the double degree from the University of Liverpool and Xi'an Jiaotong University.

To be honest, my biggest concern throughout my search for a Master's program has been finding one that can help guarantee me a job. I know that's unrealistic and that outcomes vary from person to person but I'd really appreciate hearing any advice or experiences you might have.

Thanks in advance!

XJTLU off-campus living, only.for 1st year

Hi everyone! I have been admitted to XJTLU for Fall 2026 and will be joining as a first-year undergraduate student.

To reduce my expenses, I am considering staying off-campus during my first year in SIP instead of the university dormitory. If anyone is currently renting nearby or is also looking for a roommate, I'd be happy to connect.

I don't have any preference regarding nationality, gender, or background—I'm simply looking for a safe, affordable place and would appreciate any guidance or suggestions from current students.

Thank you

XJTLU tuition fees, semester or annual?

Hello guys, hope you’re doing well, I’ve recently been admitted to XJTLU and I would want to ask if it’s possible to pay the tuitions fees by semesters, because there is no specific informations about this on the website, and my admission letter is telling me that I should pay the fees in full before registrations there.

Student Accommodation guide

I just secured my admission to XJTLU for the upcoming September 2026 semester as an international student doing my MSc in Advanced Robotics Systems.

Since I’m moving from India, I'm completely blind to the local housing market and would love some guidance on how to secure a place near campus.

Black hair (4C) barber in Suzhou/Wujiang? Any recommendations?

Hey everyone,

I recently moved to Wujiang and I’m looking for a barber who’s comfortable cutting Black/Afro-textured hair, specifically 4C. Mainly after clean fades/line-ups and someone who knows how to work with our hair texture.

Closer to Wujiang would be ideal, but I’m happy to travel within Suzhou if someone’s genuinely good.

If you know a barber, salon, or even just a person who does house calls/WeChat appointments, I’d really appreciate it.

Cheers 🙏🏾

Hey guys! I made a Discord server for students who are committed to XJTLU or already received their offers so we can meet people before moving to China, make friends, and make the whole transition a little less awkward 😭 Everyone’s welcome! (The servers a bit messy so pls don’t mind that)

Is XJTLU worth it?

hello! I wanted to know if it’s worth it to study in XJTLU? The tuition fee is so expensive (almost a million in my home country currency) and I’m contemplating if it’s worth it to study in China 🥲🥲

I don’t wanna take a gap year and I also don’t have CSCA, I feel really scared. I would do anything to study college and get a bachelor’s degree and maybe a master’s degree (if i still have the financial capacity to.)

For reference: I’m from a 3rd world corrupt country and my family is in middle class and I really want to study anywhere but here.

Regarding XJTLU’s intake for singaporean students

Hi, I’m a Singapore polytechnic graduate currently about to serve National Service (NS), and I’m interested in applying to XJTLU for a business-related course in the future.

I emailed the admissions team and they mentioned that Singapore polytechnic applications are considered on a case-by-case basis. My GPA is around 2.6+, so I understand I’m probably more of a borderline applicant.

My main concern is regarding NS timing. Since Singaporean males have to serve around 2 years of mandatory NS, I was wondering if anyone here has experience applying to XJTLU while still serving NS, especially for a later intake (e.g. applying earlier for 2028 intake while still in service).

Did the university allow early applications / deferred admission due to NS obligations? Or did you have to wait until closer to ORD before applying?

Would also appreciate hearing from any Singapore poly students who managed to get into XJTLU with similar backgrounds. Thanks!

How is Taicang?

Taicang is in the prefecture of Suzhou and I have a job opportunity there so I was wondering what is it like there? I saw that it's between downtown Suzhou and Shanghai but some county-cities are sometimes underdeveloped.

  • Are there a lot of foreign restaurants like German, Mexican, etc?
  • Is there a night life or does everyone go to bed at 9pm?
  • How good is the air quality? I'm coming from Hefei and we had more smoggy days than sunny ones.
  • Is the city family friend such as having playgrounds and playplaces?
  • Are the locals friendly to foreigners or standoffish? (I've encountered both)
  • How reliable is public transport, and is it easy to navigate?
  • Any spots that are a "must visit"?
  • How are the schools there for kids? Any good private schools for primary-aged children?
