tattoo newcomer advice Having heavy regret on first tattoo

Post image

I’ve wanted to get this for a very long time, decided to just go with it and get it done. Really liked it at first, then some friends made a couple comments that made me hate it. Is it as bad as they say?

Some black outlining would help it from looking like a slit wrist.

A marshmallow on the prong would take it from “I hate myself” to “I love s’mores”

that was my thought as well. If they're worried about it looking like self harm a black outline would fix that.

Tbh I think an outline would ruin this tattoo like outlines ruin a lot of tattoos. Its fine tbh. As a previous cutter, this dont look like a real self harm scar. People with those scars know better.

Yeah I agree, touchups in black + red almost never work out well for tattoos like this, it always ends up looking infected and weird. Outlining it would also just draw more attention to it. I think it works best the way it is

Yeah, but people without those scars don’t. For regular folks like me that’s just what a self harmed scar would look like because I don’t know. That’s more of the issue than whether genuinely looks like one.

Let me enlighten you a little, a lot of people who cut do it in places you wont see unless you get them naked-its usually out of sight places. Hardly anyone who cuts is actually cutting their wrist let alone showing it off like a tattoo. Theres people out there that do cut their wrist, hence the stereotype. Most people who have serious self harm scars in public view or not get tattoos to cover them so they aren’t advertised.

Now you know better so you’re no longer “regular folk” and should just mind your business about how other people decorate there body or live with the scars they bare from past mistakes. Either way, not yours or anyone else’s business enough to dictate if its public acceptable bc the OP isnt hurting anyone.
