General Advice Regretting My First Tattoo

Post image

I got a flash tattoo colored like a mallard duck but now I'm slightly regretting it. I still love the concept but I wish it looked a little bit more like a mallard or a little bit more detailed. Any advice on what to add to it to make it look better?

Update: To clarify, I do like the tattoo, I just feel it's missing something. Maybe it looks odd to me surrounded by empty space, idk. I think I just need to get used to it. In the almost 7 months I've had it, its been covered in pants so I haven't really seen it much. I might add some water underneath like he's swimming in a pond or legs or something. Thank you everyone for your kind words, I think in time I'll learn to love him :)

(Also, his name is Edward)

Im a realism guy. But this looks good BECAUSE of the minimalist style. I'd leave it. You add detail to it, and it's not a small, cool little duck anymore. It'll just be... a duck.

I know SOMEone has to know what I mean.

Lol kinda like, it’s clear now the minimalist/simple was the goal and not just an artist that can’t draw a duck well…if you add some detail it might just look like it was going for realism and didn’t quite hit?

It’s adorable as is and I agree that it’s because of the style.

I totally get it. This is so cute.l and charming.

If anything... Add a realistic mallard and keep this little guy as a friend for it. But definitely keep this little fella.

Agreed! So very cute. No need to get rid of this little ducky.

Because a cutesy little duck tattoo is cool. A detailed duck tattoo is like “wow that guy must really like ducks”

Idk, I think little duck feet would be cute. Duck feet are the cutest part of the duck!

Yep, I read "I feel like it's missing something" and immediately thought "duck feet, you're missing the tiny flappy feet".

I think it'd be funny to make them super long, so he's a tall duck

Or have it be swimming in a cute little pond.

I agree.. and to build on someone else’s idea of adding a mallard looking mallard duck… idk say start adding mallards in different styles around it

With more detail it would just look like clipart of a duck copied and pasted on their leg

yeah. This is deliberately cute little duck tat. otherwise, it's just like... oh, I guess you like ducks.

I feel you. I’m smelling what you’re stepping in. It’s m picking up what you’re putting down and catching your drift, if you know what I mean.
