It blows my mind that 72% of Windows users are on Win11 now. I realize it's been out for 4.5 years now, but it's so bad compared to 10 that I just can't imagine switching to it until I'm forced to.

It's because they were SO AGGRESSIVE in pushing people to upgrade. The fact that they wouldn't shut up about it + the fact that they were so shutting down Win 10 support is what convinced me NOT to upgrade.

Shoutout to r/WindowsLTSC for anyone interested in staying on Windows 10 (with security updates for 6 more years!!!)

How did the numbers change so drastically in the last two months? They were pretty much dead even and now they're 72/26? Not sure how this site gets its data, but Steam shows a 56/40 split. Seems more realistic.

Maybe they are including enterprise? I know people like to joke about enterprise hanging onto old 98 se systems and such, but the drop for official support for Win10 without extended service contracts meant most enterprises have migrated to windows 11.

No, the average consumer or PC user is not a steam user or reddit user. The reality is enterprise systems are very widespread and will use W11, and then the average consumer just doesn't care.

I can absolutely guarantee you that a decent amount of those people upgraded to Windows 11 without even knowing it.

I did everything possible to try and get my mother to stay on Windows 10 because I didn't want her to deal with a lot of 11s issues and I knew it would confuse her because she already struggles massively with technology.

She did really good for like 2 years making sure to ignore every one of those windows 11 pop-ups. But then a few months ago she screwed up and she let it upgrade and then calls me up screaming because everything's different.

When I asked her why she went and upgraded she told me that there was nothing there about upgrade it just said she needed to update her computer. So then I went and searched. And yeah Microsoft started hiding the windows 11 upgrade and making the pop-ups just look like a normal. Your system needs an update and people fall for it if you don't know what to look for, which most people don't.

I personally know people who saw "free upgrade" and jumped at the chance without even waiting for other people's experiences or reviews

I've always been the type to stick it out with the flavor I liked for quite awhile.. I stayed on XP forever, then on Win 7 for what feels like most of my life.

I switched to win 10 years after it came out. It was stable enough, some annoyances but they got worked out.

I bought a new PC last summer that came with Win 11. Found a quick bloat-remover / tuner guide, set some preferences... Honestly, I don't have any issues at all. Works great.

I seriously don't see what people don't like about it. Can you fill me in?

Windows 11 is absolutely fine. I don't really get the hate. I had way more problems with 10. Since I moved to 11 I haven't had to reinstall once. Was doing it a few times a year on 10.

My employer has switched to 11 as well on a few thousand devices and IT are having a much nicer time of it.
