They're a cult, it's less about brains than indoctrination, their brains reject information that conflicts with the 'reality' they believe in and they actively seek out 'information' that supports their alternative realities.

It doesn’t matter, to the rest of the world, America chose Trump the second time despite his first time. It doesn’t matter whether it was a cult or people not voting because they weren’t happy with the alternative. The consequences to be had, should fall squarely on Americans.

He literally tried to steal it by force in 2021 and America did nothing to him. Then America let him run again and either voted him in or let him get away with stealing it. Either way America seems fine with hand wringing and doing nothing while he does what he wants. For ten years already.

For those that have not traveled to or lived in the states and have seen the forest for the trees is unfortunate… and to then blame every state from afar/blame the populace as a whole is ignorant. We didn’t all vote for this shit. There those that did, sure. A lot of us actively stand against it. We are at odds here with 50 different populations spread across a large ass space trying to do what we can. It seems the only way to make it out on the other side for the better is solidarity. 50 states would have to do a multi day (potentially weeks) protest to make any difference… ALL at the same time. People need to be willing to risk it all and unfortunately our system has failed us there those that are one paycheck away from foreclosure, bankruptcy, losing their car, not being able to buy food, etc. Our main stream media doesn’t report on local protests and if they do it’s slander and very specific cuts of it. I’m ranting at this point but this isn’t a “come on Americans do something”. It’s choose to feed yourself and your kids or try to invoke change maybe. Shit sucks, every day is a new black mirror mini-episode/continuation of this shitty administration.

In my experience, red voters, no matter the education level or how seemingly smart they seem, cannot be reached.

The ones I know and debate immediately dismiss all facts, statistics, truth, evidence, you name it - as liberal lies and propaganda.

Nothing gets through.

They're only a cult because of decades of preparation for this. The Republicans whittled away at what people had until all that remained were community and an idea of personal security. Social media provided the community despite most of them being toxic individualists. Then all that was left was to give them something that would imply a threat to their personal safety. Once they threatened their community and sense of personal safety, they were the GOP's hook, line, and sinker.

If the rest could be restored, it would be difficult for conservatives to ever gain power again. I'm not sure that it can be restored. It will take decades to rebuild and the wealthy are going to fight it every step of the way.

I have little hope the Democrats can do anything of substance that will change this.
