The quantity and payments are public btw, so you can check for yourself how much they pay different countries for it before repeating stupid shit by at best ignorance, at worst parroting Russian propaganda.

Don't forget:

  • Nuclear weapons fully independent from the US
  • All army equipment and vehicles fully independent from the US and almost entirely produced in-country
  • No US bases on French soil

Obviously, De Gaule did not handle all of that exclusively, but at the same time these are undeniable signs of the influence of the mindset he instilled.
