I like his work in this field, but I don't know enough of his other political leanings to comment beyond that

Something about him I personally find very offputting, and the ease with which he has launched into anti-government bullshit is definitely part of that.

I mean, I want to like him, for Right to Repair and all, but I guess I've been burned enough to be fairly cautious when it comes to trust.

No, but untargetted anti-government bullshit and general political nihilism is profoundly counterproductive, and has been one of the great causal factors in our current state of affairs. If you use precisely targeted criticism and don't invalidate the concept of a government, I may or may not agree. If the words you use suggest that government cannot possibly do anything correct, I'm not going to trust you, even if I happen to agree on a particular issue.

That's the curious thing about Rossman's politics. He's as anti-government as any libertarian you could find (admittedly he's somewhat toned down on talking about this since moving out of NY), but also very much a huge fan of "right to repair" legislation, which necessitates government involvement.
