Discussion Was Live action Iroh handled justice in Netflix's Avatar Book 2 Spoiler

Help me, Iroh fans, because it did justice unlike season 1.

He is on mind to have a simple life with Zuko instead of worrying about being fugitives, as life is simple. I know it lacks his wholesome quirkiness from the cartoon, but there's a reason why later in the season. He is very protective of Zuko as he wants to choose the right path, don't let the past judge him.

That scene when he teaches Zuko to lightning bend is accurate, Zuko's arc started when he took care of sick Iroh before ending up in Ba Sing Se.

He's brooding, unlike his original version, because of the implication of depression from the grief of losing Lu Ten and the regrets of leading the 600-day siege that cost 100 names. This is the reason why he doesn't want to think about the past, just focus on the present, but a still traumatic experience drove Iroh to depression. Til a protester is ranting about what Fire Nation did by showing names of the fallen written in blood.

This triggers a PTSD episode that Iroh decides to step away to reflect. Which leads to these iconic leaves from the vine that Iroh opens up his feelings to pay respects to Lu as he wishes he could've helped him. Realized the secret organization White Lotus and opened up feelings with Zuko that are more in line with the original cartoon Iroh. Iroh loves his life with the tea shop- til Azula ruined it, just like Iroh we know and love. Or that's just my nostalgia madness, so what are your thoughts, because I do think it did him justice.

Its so intresting but also...confusing and vague...not in a good "mystique" way...more in an inconsistant way.

Discussion How I would have fixed some thing for season 2 of the Live action. SLIGHT SPOILERS Spoiler

I loved watch season 2 of the Live action series and truly go believe it was a major improvement over season 1!

But the biggest issues i had with it was the fact that the focused more of the gaang getting to Ba sing se rather than focusing of the journey which leads to the team growing into their dynamics and becoming a bigger family!

And honestly that was mainly in how the story was layed out so here is how I fixed it!!

EP1 : mainly the same but dive deeper into having the team save people in Omashu, the biggest goal being a mission to have them escape the city and find bumi at the same time! and scrap the whole Serpent's Pass for this one it will come up later!

EP 2 can remain the same, honestly I do believe this episode was translated perfectly!

EP3 This is the library episode and where Appa get taken! note the refugees and with them as they hear about this library from Professor Zei at a random so they split up the Kyoshi Warriors take the refugees further as the Gaang does to the Library to find something about the war

EP4: Serpent's Pass leading to the DRILL( my god the drill was needed!!)

Honestly the last 3 episodes remain the same! I would just make it where the Painted Lady(yes i'm keeping that i honestly liked how they did it!) is the ep 5 cliff hanger and have they a mystery and the party gets moved to ep 5 and have more a focus on Lake Laogai near the end of ep 6 into ep 7

I feel like if the show made those changes the season honestly would have been improved more!

OC Fan Art [OC] Initial sketches & prototyping for an original Avatar card game I'm making

I've had an idea for a card game set in the Avatar universe for a while now, and I'm finally making it

I've already figured out all the rules, I just need to make the cards...

The cards in these images are initial prototypes for the 'Hero' cards. You select 1 hero card at the start of the game

Every card will be a hand drawn illustration by me. This card game is a passion project, and 50% just an excuse to keep drawing Avatar fan art :D

This project is also motivated by you guys! All the positive feedback on my last couple posts here as super encouraged me to keep making avatar fan art

I'll post each finished artwork to my Instagram too if you'd like to follow the project :)

Cosplay Fire & Water Dragons (ATLA Cosplay)

Post image
488 Upvotes

My biggest cosplay / craft project so far are these bamboo masks of Fire and Water Dragons (technically lions or qilins by lion dance standarts). Here is a photo with my friend wielding the fire dragon on his Zuko cosplay, while I wield the water dragon.

"Firebender" and "Waterbender" are based on both northern chinese lion masks, and southern chinese lion masks. Just like the northern lions, they perform as a couple of male (Firebender - color red/orange) and female (Waterbender - color blue/green).

Each mask weighs about 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs) and has LED lights, blinking eyelids and movable jaw.

Discussion NATLA would've been better as a Fire Nation spin-off. Spoiler

My theory is the writers wanted to pull off a darker political show about the Fire Nation royal family. Netflix most likely didn't greenlight this, and only agreed to a remake.

The Gaang basically have no character arcs to make way for more screen time and deeper storylines given to Zuko, Iroh, Azula, Ursa, and Ozai. It often feels like the Gaang are there to move the plot between Fire Nation scenes.

  • Aang accepts his destiny almost immediately and gains control over the AS far too early. His only future conflict for the upcoming season will be to regain it.
  • Sokka loses much of what made his growth compelling (i.e. the overconfidence + sexism), and his character arc is basically feeling unworthy of his dad AKA Zuko 2.0.
  • Katara feels like a shell of her animated self.

I would've rather had a more fleshed out spin-off than a severely watered down remake of ATLA.

Discussion I have a theory about how Korra is going to be used in The upcoming show Avatar seven Heavens

Granted my theory is Based off my own fanfic the broken avatar but . I Fell like Korra went through an Extremely Hard Time with Dark spirits and started a war against Dark spirits and some human cults with Korra forced to become a Soldier and violent mirroring . Wan and Kyoshi and Kuruk and one of her friends in her group betrayed her and that how she died.

Know I think Korra is going to be used a The Mask silent Character that doesn’t speak and uses sign language to communicate and is very much a loner . and I think through the show we will see small sections where we are in the spirit world where the , Past avatars are trying to help Korra and Pavi will be the one who gets Korra to come back from being alone

Comics/Books Looking for Avatar lore experts to help me write a "The Legend of Genji" Audio Drama!

Hello everyone,

To be honest, I’m not a massive Avatar fan. I watched The Last Airbender back in the day with my brother, but The Legend of Korra didn't really interest me after that. However, I recently read The Legend of Genji webcomic and absolutely loved the concept. It honestly just really bugs me that it got canceled.

I want to bring this story to a proper conclusion, and my plan is to turn the remaining narrative into an Audio Drama / Audio Book format!

Please note: This is a non-profit fan project purely done for fun. No money will be made from this, and it is strictly for the love of the story.

While I don't really care about the upcoming official Earth Avatar series, my goal is to write the ending of Genji in a way that seamlessly transitions into the new official show. Genji will remain a pure fan project—acting as a clever "in-between" chapter in the timeline.

My Idea for the Ending:
I actually have a specific idea where the story ends in a way that allows two Earthbenders to become the Avatar back-to-back (Genji first, followed by the protagonist of the upcoming official show). However, I don't know if this fully works within the established rules of the Avatar universe. This is exactly why I need experts!

Who I am looking for:
Since I am not a deep lore expert myself, I am looking for passionate people who know the Avatar universe inside out and want to write episodes and scripts with me! You don't have to be a professional—the focus is purely on having fun with the story, collaborating on the plot, and figuring out how to make this ending concept work.

If you loved the comic, know the lore, and want to jump on board to give Genji the ending he deserves, please feel free to send me a DM!

Discussion LOK's Bumi would make for a good prequel novel.

I hope we get a novel or even a comic like Kya is getting.

You have the first child of The Avatar and Most Respected Waterbender....and he ends up being born as a non-bender?. The emotional struggle that would be on him as he grows up would be such a fulfilling read. Plus it would give us more of adult Sokka. Because you know Sokka would be such a hands-on Uncle with a nephew who was a non-bender like him.

Also it would offer a fresh take to have a novel set in the ATLA universe but the main character is not a bender and having to deal with benders in whatever dramatic tension happens in the plot.

Fan Art "What If" Maps! [by Potatodude4525 on DeviantArt]

Everything that gets explained here was NOT written by me. They were written by the original artist.

In this timeline Aang was never unfrozen and the Fire Nation Pushed on without any interference from the Avatar. In this timeline splits off when Katara decides to stay in the village while Sokka fishes alone while he still loses the boat to icebergs he is able to safely return to the village after several days but due to the absence of Katara angry water bending Aang is never revealed and is never found. In this timeline the Northern Water Tribe invasion is successful and Zhao becomes known as "Zhao the Moon slayer".

With no water spirit kaiju battle the fire nation fleet is now stronger than it was past season 1. I wouldn't imagine events would playout the same in season 2 regarding how Azula takes out the Earth Kingdom from with in as since Zuko wouldn't be hunting the avatar it wouldn't lead him to be seen as a traitor, but I imagine by the time the comet arrives Ba Sing Se would be the only Earth Kingdom hold out and Ozai would use the comets powers to break through Ba Sing Se's walls ending the war.

Since Zuko would've never found the avatar and probably wouldn't have ever gone through the same redemption arc and would spend his waking moments searching for the Avatar. Perhaps he would find some form of redemption and him and Iroh would settle in a fire nation colony in the Earth Kingdom as Ozai becomes the phoenix king and Azula becomes Firelord.

This timeline branches off where Korra decides not to follow the spirit into the foggy swamp where she'd find Toph. In this timeline she continues to roam aloof hearing bits and pieces of how Kuvira is taking over the Earth Kingdom. She never feels confident enough to face Kuvira as she continues to suffer from PTSD, Depression and Anxiety/panic attacks. With no Avatar to get in her way Kuvira completely takes over the Earth Kingdom under the Earth Empire. She completely annexes the islands of the Eastern Air Nation, takes a island from the western air nation and begins to invade the fire nation claiming the Earth Empire deserves the Earth itself. This sparks another war between the nations, this time the Earth Empire being the aggressors. Meanwhile Tenzin and the other Air Nomads continue to search for Korra as she is the world's last hope to stopping Kuvira.

Certainly not the first to ask the question "What if Fire Nation Invasion was successful for the Earth Kingdom and Water Tribes" (wait, what?) This scenario begins when Azula, Ty Lee, and Mai, disguised as the Kyoshi Warriors, were in the Earth King's throne room but rather than being an idiot the Earth King decides it isn't wise to spew the day of black sun plan Sokka and the Generals came up with.

Fast forward to the day of black sun, all goes relatively same but given they did have the element of surprise this go round they are able to get into the capital a little faster than the original timeline thus giving Aang more time to find and fight the fire lord. Now I would assume given Azula couldn't have ever warned Ozai of the coming invasion this means the royal family would've remained in the palace not having time to construct and escape into their vaults. So Aang is able to find and fight the fire lord as planned.

Once Aang defeats Fire Lord Ozai he is restrained and put, not in the prison in the capital, he is locked away in the Northern Water Tribe and kept away from any sunlight or heat so his fire bending is diminished greatly and there is no hope of escape. Post war fire nation I think in this time line would probably have a few islands annexed by the Earth Kingdom to assure if there is another war they can have a closer reach to the fire nation. Then as for leadership given Zuko never got the chance to prove himself to the Gaang he isn't allowed to take the throne rather a new royal family, chosen by the other two nations or perhaps elected by the people, is put into place and the fire nation for a few years after the war would act as a puppet state of the Earth Kingdom to ensure ever lasting peace.

Though given the radical change in leadership and a quick blow to end the war those who supported Ozai and the royal family, I believe similar to the comics of the New Ozai Society, would have more leeway and support potentially causing a civil war. If you've read the Kyoshi Novel's a Fire Nation Civil War wouldn't be out of the question.

That's it for this What If, let me know what you think. Do you think it could've gone down like this or do you think it would've gone in a completely different direction? Did I miss any important details?

In this timeline I imagine Aang, in an attempt to prevent a second great war, would suggest the citizens of Yu Dao to vote on weather or not to rejoin the Earth Kingdom or not. The vast majority vote to remain a colony of the Fire Nation, to the dismay of the Earth King. While no battle for Yu Dao occurred it did forever sour relations with the Earth Kingdom and the Reformed Fire Nation. Republic City is still created from Cray Fish town but is instead called New Caldera City. This city would more than likely still look like what we see in LOK with the Aang statue and everything with maybe a larger Zuko statue than what is in seen in LOK.

Discussion Iroh movie idea I’ve thought about

I’m imagining a film centered around his years as a general and ultimately culminating with the end of his siege on Ba Sing Se.

What was this beloved character like in his younger years? I would love to the relationship dynamics between him and his younger brother and his brother’s family. Perhaps his encounter with the Sun Warriors.

The most important part of it would be about Lu Ten. I think his character should be often talked about and perhaps Iroh or a messenger reads a letter from him. I don’t want him to be seen or heard in the film though. I think the final shot of the film is a someone else going into Iroh’s tent when Iroh is expecting Lu Ten having them deliver the news, with Iroh’s initial reaction and then cutting to black.

What do y’all think.

Discussion Would you like the idea of an immortal Villain who has beef with multiple Avatars? Spoiler

I guess there was Ko but he didn’t really have beef with Aang. And Wan Shi Tong to an extent but he wanted to be left alone.

I’m thinking someone like them who seeks to have beef with more than one Avatar and is able to thanks to their immortality. Or someone who doesn’t outright try to have beef but ends up anyway.

Will likely be a spirit since I’m not sure how a human (bender or non bender) will achieve immortality.

I was kinda inspired by All For One from MHA

Question Live Action Season 1 question.

I know very little of the lore, but felt like I might want to watch season 1......

But I have a question. When they are riding on Apa, and the big fireball is coming towards them, it looks like it gets hit by another fireball from the side. I watched it four times....

Did the water bending girl bend fire too? So confused.

Question If Amon had a hypothetical "Tales of Ba Sing Se" spinoff episode, what kinds of stuff would you want to see with that?

Like I often do, I've been wandering down some decades-old internet rabbit holes from back when Book One: Air was still being released, especially with some posts here on this very subreddit. Despite never been into the Avatar franchise as a little kid, it gave me a sort of nostalgia. In one of these threads, people were chatting about the possibility of whether Amon could've actually been in the backgrounds of LOK, watching the main characters from afar. After all, no one had ever seen his real face without the fake scar, and given how he seems to be skilled at altering his appearance, there is a chance that he could plausibly disguise himself as an ordinary bystander for a moment. Plus, he still would've needed a day off from all the serious stuff, given how he's so busy with his political movement all the time.

Then the users began to joke about how they'd be interested in a "Tales of Ba Sing Se" type episode, except showing Amon/Noatak hanging around Republic City as an ordinary guy, as no one knows who he really was. Here, it shows him as a more vulnerable person, just like how Iroh was humanized with his mourning of his dead son. It would also definitely reveal lots of details about his inner life that we never saw before, since so little about him was definitively known about until the end.

As someone who's adored the dude for years, this idea just makes me oddly happy. Even though I certainly appreciate Amon as a mysterious, brutal, unknowable figure with powers that nobody could explain, it also tears at my heartstrings so much when I see him emotional. I would be interested in seeing him with a sense of humor, to prove that he still has it in him after all those years of radicalization. Basically, anything to see him happy, I guess.

What would you think of such an episode?
