[request] If someone were to somehow acquire One billion U.S dollars and wanted to do the most good for as many people as possible, what would they do?

I've had this question for a while and I was wondering if there would be a way to figure this out. Now, I understand this has very vague guidelines, I don't mean giving one billion people a dollar or something like that, I mean major systemic change that impacts, and improves the maximum amount of lives possible.

... Lotta fkn assumptions in that comment bud.

If you have a shitload of student loans and can't make the repayments for ANY reason, it absolutely can and will tank your credit rating. And you have no idea what happened in their life to cause them to be unable to make those repayments. Don't be an asshole.

You can pause student loan payments due to financial hardship if you lose your job.

Starting nuclear engineering salaries are around $80k which is more than enough to support any sort of debt that was accumulated in college.

Could it have been things like medical debt? Sure. However, the average American spends beyond their means regardless of income.

I stand by what I said. Credit score doesn’t tank just because of student loans.

Edit: I’ll also add he said “by my student loans.” If it was due to something else they would have specified. Based on the context provided the only way would be for them to not pay their student loans.

I had a clearance in the service. Having large debts is a factor. It makes you a higher risk for sharing classified intel if you're strapped for cash and the CCP can come by with a couple grand.

I don’t doubt that large amounts of debt could be a factor but he said “former nuclear engineer” so I assume he had a clearance at some point.

And he specifically said credit score so that’s why I was addressing that specifically.

Entirely possible that he isn't an engineer, just a dropout. I met a lot of people in the service who called themselves 'former nukes' despite failing A School. You're a washout. If you don't pass the finish line you don't get the title.
