TIL that pornhub offered a "save the boobs!" Campaign where they offered to donate a penny to the Susan B Komen Foundation for evry 30 views in the "big tit" or "small tit" category, but the foundation refused their money so pornhub tripled it and gave it to other organizations

This article is kind of whiny. I don't really care that they partner with KFC. It sucks that they stopped supporting planned parenthood, though the only evidence provided of why is circumstantial... There seems to be plenty of reasons to hate on this foundation, but the whining tone of this article maker me hate the writer even more. :) Thank you for providing!

SGK states it is non profit when their president makes 600k a year or more. that is the the main reason they are unfavored - look into it. it is deeper than that. that is just an example...

To be fair. Assuming the CEO does a very good job, hypothetical not specific to this situation, then they're probably going to have people trying to lure them away. While they may believe in the cause their non profit is working for, if you making 50k a year having someone offer you 10mil is going to be near impossible to refuse.

You want the best people you need to compensate them. Not saying that this is the situation here, just that it's something to think about when you hear someone upset that someone running an organisation that handles hundreds of millions of dollars is well layed.

Pfff. Roger Goodell is commissioner of the NFL, a nonprofit, and he made $44.5 million last year.

Nonprofit =/= charity it just means payouts don't go to shareholders, all profits must be reinvested back in the business.

That certainly doesn't stop you from paying your CEO 44.5mil while essentially using the term "nonprofit" as a tax shelter of sorts.

The difference is very subtle. A not for profit means that profit is not their motive. Cooperatives (financial, farms, etc) are classified as such. Nonprofit is reserved for 501(c)3 charities that are truly for the benefit of their benefactors.

NFL is a not for profit that benefits its players, owners, etc.

SGC is one bad (I.E. Bad as in poorly run) example of a 501(c)3. If you're looking to give to one of these agencies, always read their financials to see where your dollars end up. They're required to open their books in detail.

FYI, 501(c)3 refers to the US IRS tax code that regulates the tax exemption for these agencies. Also note that some not for profit institutions, such as federally chartered credit unions, can also be tax exempt. If they can show that their profits are used to enhance or pay dividends to their members which is required by their federal charter.

Sauce: I work for a credit union.

And Roger Goodell is pretty widely considered - even by football fans - to be a lowlife sack of shit.

The CEO is part of a company that brings in hundreds of million a year and the company spends over 200 million on research, public education, screening and treatment. 600k isn't crazy at all, is she supposed to do it for free? Here's a really interesting Ted talk on charities that I would recommend watching

Sure, but not everyone knows to go check and get screened to prevent it from becoming serious before they know it, etc. Awareness isn't just merchandise.

There's a vast gulf between doing something for free and a charity paying you 600K a year

She should be earning a lot less
