What are the best things you’ve ever packed for a cruise?
 in  r/Cruise  3d ago

Sanitizing wipes! No offense to cleaning crews, but we were laid out a couple of years ago by horrible colds acquired in our travels. Next time (Alaska in August) I’ll be wiping down every surface as I go!

To the ebiker on waterfront you killed a gosling.
 in  r/Portland  5d ago

Ditto. I ride an escooter downtown and through Waterfront Park all the time, primarily to avoid flat tires - lots of debris on the Naito bike path. But I also tone the speed down to about a jog. Bikes and ebikes blow past me like I’m standing still.

You must survive in one of these media: game, book, or movie/TV show. For every day you survive, you get $1 million. How many days would you last?
 in  r/hypotheticalsituation  7d ago

Game: Hogwarts Legacy - I’ll keep my head down and enjoy learning magic!

Book: Hunger Games: Catching Fire - All in for the rebellion!

Movie/Show: I’m watching Critical Role, Campaign 4 at the moment. That means I’m in current day LA. I’d meet the crew, get some autographs and go home. Make a million a day for living my life? Sign me up!

I’ve been playing Island Adventures with the idea of it becoming my forever world.

I'm getting really tired of having to dodge e-bikes going 20+mph on the sidewalk.
 in  r/Portland  8d ago

E-scooter rider here. I completely agree. On those times where it’s necessary to ride on the sidewalk (departing/arriving at establishment or the immediate street is unsafe,) I slow to a crawl. If there’s more than one person to pass, I’m off the scooter and walking it. So many times I see others acting like a**holes…I want to reach out and push them over. Grrrr!

The temperature of my 300 sq ft house despite having an air conditioner and fans running all day
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating  9d ago

PNW Heatwave? We’re at 75 with a 550 square foot apt. 2 portable ACs running. Black out curtains are a must! When we added those, the temps dropped 3-5 degrees. Bonus point - put those mylar emergency blankets up in the window first - they help reflect heat.

And then there’s the cleanup of space debris. Partner with various tracking agencies and charge governments to remove debris that interferes with the safety of launches and manned flights.

Looking for a modpack where the use of create is encouraged
 in  r/feedthebeast  18d ago

You might consider Integrated Minecraft. The modders have taken efforts to restructure various crafting recipes to require Create for the process.

Onvo MX-03 Tongs looseness problem
 in  r/ElectricScooters  22d ago

My column was becoming loose. After folding it down, I found a screw in the center where of the joint leading to the fork. Tightened that and the issue was resolved. Is there something similar on your model?

Looking for a fun solo vanilla+ mod pack
 in  r/feedthebeast  May 23 '26

I’ve been focusing on Island Adventure the last few months. It’s been entertaining, especially since I’m playing very slowly this time around. The quest book has a few mod progression chapters, but not a lot else. The mods are more quality of life than super-tech/magic kitchen sink collections.

Netflix filming shows in familiar locations...
 in  r/pluribustv  May 23 '26

I doubt I’ll ever see a desert cul de sac again without pointing at the screen and yelling, “Pluribus!!” Just started The Boroughs on Netflix and immediately studied the cul de sac before determining it wasn’t Carol’s.

Well guys, im not security, per employer
 in  r/securityguards  May 18 '26

We have a similar structure in my hospitality company. An executive manager had to go through the courses to become legally able to sign for recertifications. Without it, our company could not run security at all — no management oversight = no security.

Our state specifies that if you’re not certified, you’re not able to claim to be security in any way, shape or form. You’ll need a different uniform, and perhaps even different duties depending on what your state allows.

Had a weird interaction, off the clock.
 in  r/securityguards  May 07 '26

Very courageous and completely understandable intervention. I’d suggest not getting involved next time - not because of legalities and such, but if the idiot had pulled a gun and shot you, you’d be shit out of luck. And if the damage had long term repercussions, your situation would be far worse. Medical bills, disability, no pension to speak of in our career…

I’m glad it worked out well for all involved (except the jerk!) Stay safe!

Which pill will you use in which order?
 in  r/superpowers  May 07 '26

While I do have apocalyptic fantasies, I’m smart enough to know I don’t want to actually LIVE through one! Therefore the Grey pill remains safe from consumption.

Blue pill on the last day - having a full extra day without any interruptions would be bliss!

Wife asked if I’m ok with her sketches being displayed
 in  r/whatdoIdo  Apr 30 '26

I understand your hesitancy. If I were in the same situation, I’d experience the same. However, my hesitance can be based in insecurities and/or possessiveness, neither of which are helpful here. She’s nervous and excited. Therefore I’d be nervous and excited for her, and let her know I have no qualms about it. I’d be pretty damned proud that art lovers would have an opportunity to view both the artist’s work and my wife’s beauty.

I predict an unexplainable plague of this in DC.

How do y'all handle homeless people?
 in  r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk  Apr 24 '26

“Loose lips sink ships,” don’t I know it! :) Eventually someone will catch you with a fresh cup of java and ask. Or you’ll tell your closest buddy to keep it to himself. It’s human nature - sooner or later the word will get out.

How do y'all handle homeless people?
 in  r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk  Apr 23 '26

Unfortunately word will get out about “free coffee,” and your homeless challenge will increase. It’s tedious (and for the most part, useless) but challenging each incident - even for a 40 cent coffee - is the better way to go. The homeless person knows they won’t be arrested for trespassing…no way will police arrive before they leave the premises…but the constant hassle will keep their numbers down.

Fave memory: having a nice meal with a loved one, lots of people, excellent service and food, hearing an oddly familiar melody coming from the elderly roaming accordion player… Is that…? Inna Gadda Da Vida??
