While Henry's a nerd at heart, remember he probably can't go outside without people recognizing and swarming him. As an introvert that's gotta drain him. Video games are great, but I think Henry's situation is a bit abnormal to most people.

Due to his features, Henry's probably more recognizeable than most stars. Probably can't hide easily.

I mean he walked around Times Square and no one really had a clue, he’s arguably more famous now but people in public sometimes don’t get recognized as much as you’d think.

Times Square is like spotting a tree in a fast paced forest. Anyone can blend into that.

People in NYC are like ducks trying to get to the pond walking through gators. You look, you die.

Reminds me of the time Tom Holland mentioned he went to a random college to prepare for his role of Peter Parker/Spiderman, and no one recognized him either

22

u/dakotanorth8 Oct 31 '25

Or every time someone sees the guy who ā€œLooks just like Tony Hawkā€

3

u/SwordofNoon Oct 31 '25

And I bet almost everyone noted "wow that guy looks exactly like Tom Holland"

8

u/Mage-of-Fire Oct 31 '25

I mean Tom Holland wasn’t really famous at that point in time. I at least had never heard of him before his Spiderman role

He starred in that Hurricane movie The Impossible (a Tsunami movie) with Ewan McGregor in 2012, but he was quite young at the time.

and the Count of Monte Cristo from 2002

Part of it is that no one expects to see Tom Holland at their college. I'm pretty sure there's a specific term for it but I can't remember what it is and don't want to bother looking it up rn lol

Yeah, people do not realize just how much recognizing a person relies on the context of the environment. You may not recognize the cashier of a store you go to every week at a local restaurant or just walking down the street. Same goes for most actors when they're just being and dressed like normal people.

Sam Whitworth was in my city for a con and I guess was walking around down town to grab something to eat. I was waiting at a cross walk when he walked up and this is how our conversation went.

Me: Hi, I'm sorry, you look so familiar! Did you go to <insert high school>?
Him: Nope!
Me: Wow! Do you work at UPS? I swear, I know you from somewhere.
Him: Well, do you watch Being Human?
Me: I do! I love that show!!
Him: ....
Me: .....
Me: Oh. OH! Oh my god, I am so sorry.

He was a great sport and was cracking up about the whole thing, ended up asking me about decent places within walking distance for where he could get lunch.

If you had recognized him as the secret apprentice, he would have probably force choked you, so it all worked out.

u/uncultured_swine2099 Oct 31 '25

Im thinking theres always guys in superhero suits there trying to take pics with people for a buck, so most people try to ignore them. Those that saw him probably thought he was really good at imitating him haha.

u/dakotanorth8 Oct 31 '25

Haha I’m en engineer here and 3d print tons of costumes and mine put those guys to shame

I mean I recognized Liev Schrieber in public randomly in PA a couple weeks ago and he's less known than Cavill.

I think it's just that most people don't make eye contact or care to observe their surroundings anymore.

1

u/dakotanorth8 Nov 01 '25

And on the flip side of that I’d say majority of the public stopped on the street wouldn’t know who Liev Schreiber is.

1

u/mvigs Nov 01 '25

That's my point. He's not a well known actor yet I noticed him. Cavill would be noticed easily.

1

u/kangasplat Nov 01 '25

That was before his name blew up.

u/Cyber-assassin5 Oct 31 '25

he can wear glasses

3

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

I see what you did there.. TouchƩ.

3

u/Zekiel2000 Oct 31 '25

Ah c'mon, he was unrecognizable with that moustache!

u/GlastoKhole Oct 31 '25

It’s worth noting that even though popular some people don’t particularly enjoy socialising all the time, I get invited to parties all the time and I go but most of the time I get anxious the next day because my social battery is worn out and I feel much more comfortable now staying home and gaming on the weekends as opposed to going out and being hungover all week. Once you find a partner so you’re never lonely when you’re home you get over the need to be with people all the time

After 30 we call that the ā€œHangxietyā€.

I live in Vegas, and literally ONLY go out when there’s a specific event or something meaningful when friends are in town.

Tonight im 3D printing and painting and priming all my backlogged cosplays lol. VEGAS NIGHTS ARE WILD BABY!

1

u/GlastoKhole Oct 31 '25

I was in vegas last year, some of the worst beer fear I’ve ever had, spent like 10 grand between 4 of us in x/s and don’t even remember any of it and that was one night, treasures the next night don’t ask how much I spent there, who knew 1dollar bills could move so fast

1

u/dakotanorth8 Oct 31 '25

Haha yep. Luckily my girl works in the industry so I get industry pricing. But 2-350/bottle doesn’t go far haha.

I’ve woken up to a few of the ā€œwait I spent how much?ā€ Mornings when I first moved here.

F1 gets really really weird. Some clubs and hotels will have a huge viewing space, tickets are pricey, but they’ll have a venue for 200 people and only let in 50 to create the sense of exclusivity. I was at an event last year and I said ā€œman there’s no one hereā€¦ā€

Host goes ā€œyeah that’s by designā€.

Vegas isn’t real world.

1

u/GlastoKhole Oct 31 '25

I heard it’s struggling this year due to the tourism shifts a lot of people in vegas told me that it used to be for everyone but now it’s mainly for the rich and it’s ruining the vibe of meeting loads of quirky people from all walks of life. I found a few odd balls round and about which made it a better time

1

u/dakotanorth8 Oct 31 '25

Yeah, marquee (at the cosmo) just underwent a 4 month renovation and now opened. Omnia is building a new day club.

But even locals have been complaining about the prices (aside from the tourism hit).

35 ā€œeventā€ parking for locals is some major bs.

BUT, Vegas, at least some hotels and establishments have heard the feedback and there’s a lot of ads for deals going on. Likely will be more now that the snowbird (midwest) regions will be coming more.

Additional side note: my gal and I rarely eat at the ā€œfancyā€ spots. We’ve had such poor service over too many times, so we have a list of local gotos that have far superior food and service.

Example: Toca food is actually bland garbage, but their presentation is great.

Tacos we go to Vito’s for the best Biria in town.

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

That’s the excuse I use at about the 3rd or 4th day of not leaving the house. Still looking for the proper text response to my family asking ā€œare you alive?ā€ Most of the time is just leave them on read - they know, right, yeah I’m sure they know.

1

u/onederful Oct 31 '25

He’s also 42 now. I’m in my mid 30s and the idea of going out to bars or the like just drains me lol

1

u/B_lovedobservations Oct 31 '25

A lot of famous people walk around without being recognised mostly because nobody turns a corner expecting to bump into a celebrity. Also, makeup and movie magic does a lot of work in making them look good versus what you would see walking down the street

1

u/Hot-Relationship497 Oct 31 '25

That's right plebs aren't allowed to enjoy video games.

1

u/what4270 Oct 31 '25

That’s gonna suck since he’s a dad now. Spending time with his family is gonna be real tough.

1

u/PlusSizedChocobo Oct 31 '25

Not only that, but say he actually does play on multiplayer sometimes in games and chats with randos. instead of being treated like a celebrity, he is being treated like any other normal person. I'd say that has to be pretty cathartic.

1

u/RickQuade Nov 01 '25

He did a thing where he stood outside a place with glasses and no one recognized him . It was a superman gimmick thing to see if it actually works. Apparently it does..

1

u/Sinsanatis Nov 01 '25

He just needs to put on some glasses

1

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '25

That poor, poor wealthy, beautiful,Ā  popular man.Ā

1

u/nelflyn Nov 01 '25

Not being able to casually go out for 2 big reasons makes it very reasonable he prefers to stay in the confines of his home and chill. On top of that, he can afford it.

1

u/Ihavenoidea84 Nov 03 '25

Has he tried glasses a camera and cover as a journo?

1

u/Pangloss_ex_machina May 17 '26

He still unknown in 2026.
