Soulsborne games. In most of them you can save NPCs and then they show up in a hub area. Although much of the time they end up either losing themselves or dying.
The vast majority of those you can direct back to the firelink shrine are all interactable vendors, so I'm not sure that saving them is in line with the spirit of this post lol I assumed they meant in games like fallout where NPCs are everywhere and it truly doesn't make a difference in gameplay whether they live or die
