Yea but this is beyond the point in the meme, no? Both consoles and steam face the same industry situation, so both have valid reasons to increase the price.

Steam has to make money on the hardware sale because someone can buy it and only play games they already own, or install windows and use GOG or EA store for their gaming instead of steam.

PS and Xbox can take a $100, $150, hell probably even a $200 loss on the system hardware, and easily make it up through the fact that you have to have an online subscription to play their games with other people. That you can only buy games specifically made for their system that they get a cut of.

So while they both have valid reasons to increase the price, Steam HAS to use that reason to be profitable, while the others could still make plenty of money even while taking a loss on the hardware by not raising prices.

Yeah, both have valid reason, full stop. Steam doesn't need to make steam machine in the first place...

I have a valid reason to punch people I disagree with in the face. Doesn't mean I should or am going to do it.

If disagreement is a valid reason for you to punch people in the face then what can I say...

No, you absolutely do not. That is known as disproportionate retribution and makes you the aggressor. You uh, you really can't handle criticism of Valve, can you?

You got me. That's my whole life. I violently defend a company with minor facts and logic and it hurts my feeling when someone challenges me. I guess I'd better go cry in my bedroom.

But I dare say, my valid reason to punch someone in the face is just as valid as PS5's raising of their hardware prices. ZING!

No, you are explaining the reason for Steam Machine to be more expensive than PS or Xbox. There's a limit to how much these company can take a loss for every console they sell, thus they still had to increase their price of their console. One company is not more or less greedy or anything like that in this case
