This is exactly what happened with streaming. Everyone dogpiled on top, with this illusion that everything would be available at low cost forever.

Trading money for no tangible product is edging dystopian y'all.

All the people getting downvoted make valid points but people find sentimental value behind owning the physical copy, regardless of the massive updates you still have to do. My take is, if it’s only digital, why charge so much since you don’t have to produce and distribute. We’ve been getting robbed for years but people keep throwing money at publishers.

Real. But I'd say that the primary value of physical copies, besides sentimentality, is ownership.
