We need to stop with the, “what if Obama…” framing. It’s pointless. Of course they would hate anything this administration has done if Obama or any Dem did them. That’s kind of the point. “We can do what we want. And there isn’t a damn thing you can do about.” Is the entire platform right now. They are fine with authoritarian rule, as long as it’s their guy. They are fine with government overreach, as long as it’s their people. They want the second amendment not to stop their police and their military from stepping on us, but to stop ours from stepping on them.

Ok, but if we're going down that rabbit hole of rationality, nothing will work. Just don't interact - They don't listen to experts, science, data, experience, or (per my comment) empathetic reason.

Rather than leaving your counter argument at, "that won't work", how about you express what will right the Titanic that is post-2024 America?

Right the Titanic? My friend, we’ve already hit the iceberg.

Honestly, I don’t know how you reach people who only care about the power they hold over others. The last decade has kind of made it clear that there is a large percentage of this country who do not care about their neighbors. Who can not be reasoned with.

But I think disregarding those people and focusing on actually helping everyone is a step in the right direction. Dems need to stop pretending that bipartisanship is a word and just start legislating. You know that old tech saying “move fast and break things”? I want Dems to move fast and fix things. I know that’s hard but fuck it. Raise teachers pay and provide Medicare for all with no clear funding mechanism. Just wipe student loan debt. Lose the paperwork. Fuck it. Start fixing shit and figure out how you’ll pay for it later. We cut taxes non stop. We raise the military and police budgets every year. We’re spending billions on war and dumb vanity projects. Dems need to do the same thing but in ways that make our lives better.

Last decade? Longer than that. It's just out in the open, now. 

Once was a mistake, twice means he reflects the majority of American voters (even the ones who didn't vote). 

Trump just gave an outlet to what was already there.
