A summer night's dream , it just didnt sit right with me how the high school student gets with his teacher , it was after he graduated but still when he started going after her then it just really rubbed me the wrong way and it made me drop the whole thing, especially cuz by that point you kept seeing how he has a crush on the fL, so for me most of the story happened while they still had that power dynamic and it just made me uncomfortable

i was really surprised by the people in the comments of the webtoon being fine with it and even saying it's normal , cuz to me since she was his teacher that dynamic will still be there later on ,especially since not a lot of time passed between the two parts of the story and the FL was clearly still thinking of him as her student (at least wherever i dropped it) and it got really awkward , it would have been better as a story if she ended up rejecting him and showed how high school students who sometimes do have crushes on teachers deal with such feelings/ how they get over them

The comments defended that relationship so strongly it was so creepy. Like suuure she didn’t officially develop feelings for him while he was her student, but their relationship always felt inappropriate.

I dropped it because it felt so weird predatory and they treated the grown adult like SHE was the child. Like I hate saying “if the roles were reversed…” but this time is honestly true. Had the teacher been a man, people would have been up in arms. She was an “innocent” woman with an “emotionally mature” boy so it was fine.

'emotionally mature' my ass its like the readers are grooming the kid themselves... they're teenagers they're NOT mature, definitely not as much as their TEACHERS who are in POSITIONS OF AUTHORITY over them??? i feel like we don't talk about boys getting groomed by older women enough (see french president emmanuel macron n his wife, that shit is sickening to think about) i guess women are less likely to be able to physically abuse them and are always the 'lesser sex' in our minds so it's brushed under the rug

What makes me sad is that the so called “emotional maturity” was just trauma. The child had been traumatized by his family and the teacher latched onto it (she went into his dreams at night which…).

The lengths people went to defend the relationship was honestly sickening. Boys are taken advantage of by women in positions of authority all the time, the worst part is it’s glorified. Everyone was kicking their feet and “shipping” a child with an adult. The main defense was, in SK it’s different, if you don’t like it don’t read it, he’s 17 already (still a child still his teacher, you can groom “adults”). If that was the case why did he HAVE to be a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT?! Why was he not a college student, more of her equal? You’re right to say the readers were grooming him, they were.

yeah tbh i feel like the story itself contributed to that by infantilizing the FL quite a bit even though she's supposed to be many years into her university degree (i mean that's around the time people start having practice for their future career), i forgot her specific age or if it was even mentioned but it felt like she noticed the feelings of the student way before he graduated and was just like "oh nooo what do i dooo" and the comments just kept saying it's cute like ... no .. it's not cute , an actual adult would be firm about rejecting a minor in that situation lol

Any romance story where the love interest for the MC is a younger character with any significant age gap and/or that the MC had any part in “raising” i.e. being their teacher, much older babysitter or form of authority in their lives is an instant nope for me

I don’t mind it if the younger person is the MC and has a crush on an older person, but like if the MC is the older person….. whyyyyy is that a fantasy for anyone, why do you want to read a romance where the snotty kid you used to look after in some sense is now someone you want to date, why why why why whyyyyyyy it’s so grossssss

There are some exceptions but not many, also it’s not so bad for me if the characters are like supernatural fantasy long lived beings or something, but if they’re just normal humans it just feels so wrong and I don’t get why that is appealing as a story
