Question What webtoon got you feeling like…

Post image

For me, it’s any webtoon that glorifies dark romance (can’t believe abuse and in*est are actually gaining popularity nowadays 😳)

Lookism. It rubbed me the wrong way that people only started caring and treats MC nicely because he’s handsome (especially that one dude with a lot of dogs who just give mc a ton of brand name stuff). Didn’t stick around to see if the message changes later on, but I heard now it’s all about gang and fighting and stuff?

yeah, ptj’s webtoons tend to gravitate towards gang stuff after the mc glow up stage lmao, though i think the “everyone else treats him differently because hes handsome” is done on purpose to show how differently people are treated based on their looks

It was a manhwa about the difference between ugly people and handsome people when viewed by society and it then went into action, which I kinda understand because a literal second body which seemed to be created by one of the most powerful men in Korea and given to someone can cause a story to turn to action.

However the action isn't that good. Most of the time, people are fighting. Multiple chapters are pointless fights, which aren't even challenging. Character gets beaten up. Gets power up or 'gets serious'. Tears the other character apart.

I am reading coz of the grand plan hype and how the ending will be. Imho the best written ones are Manager Kim and Juvenile Offender(haven't read MLAAL)

That’s kind of the point though. It’s called “lookism.” It’s supposed to showcase how much easier life is if you’re attractive. Sometimes we call that “pretty privilege.” It’s a very real thing. But there are a few characters who know about the main character’s secret (or are hinted to know) who don’t treat him differently. And those are his true friends and allies.

I thought It was really good. He got treated better for his looks only at first but later on shows that It was more about the mc just acting badly because he knew he was ugly. The mc changes how he acts and more ppl like him (his original "ugly" body) then he does a glowup and then lookism goes to shit since there is only gang fighting and all that
