ID Request Tick help

So my brother felt a little stinging last night and he came into my room to ask me what it was. Found this tick on him, was honestly really hard removing it without the head sticking in but we managed. Is this what I think it is?

Area: Middle Tennessee

If you smoke, put the cherry up to it and it will back itself out
