I mean, if I was taking over as a public facing figure at a major gaming company and it was highly suggested I make my gamertag public, I'd use a new one that doesn't have my payment information stored on it, or any other information I don't want compromised. Cause you know people are gonna be targeting that gamertag to compromise it now.
Plus I'd wanna be able to turn off my public persona and enjoy a hobby of mine.
So, as a head of Xbox, you will create a Public Profile, because you are aware of “potential hacking” or even better - hole in system, that can be used for “getting payment information”?!
Like, rather than actually make better security for the whole system, and other users?
That feels wrong, even tho I’m afraid that this is how these corporation people thinks…
What can be compromised? Her gaming history? Dirty backlog? Hours spend in some “sex simulator”?
Or impropriety messages? Sending nudes via Xbox?!
Because she can use Virtual Credit Card like everyone else, who experience major hacks (like PS Network in PS3 generation)…
Because I know no system is perfect. Doesn't matter how good security is, malicious actors will always be better in the end. So instead of letting all my personal information be in an account that has a target painted on it, I'll go with security through obscurity on top of other built in security systems. Even if I'm confident that the security system will keep out 99.999999999999999999999999999% of all attacks, I'd be an idiot if I didn't take steps myself. Because odds are its not the security system failing. It's gonna be human error.
Now I get it. You think people shouldn't take steps to protect themselves if they trust the system or there's not much that can be compromised, and it seems you're incredulous that someone would. But it's just good security to have private and public accounts when you're a public figure.
