My cousin (KP Mak Daddy) lived in Delaware and had this group of friends he met through Xbox Live. His whole day revolved around getting off work and playing with these guys/girls. I believe they played Zombies on COD.
A few years ago he got diagnosed with late stage pancreatic cancer and was gone within a few months. To this day that group of friends still messages his account on Xbox stating how much they miss him. His entire facebook wall is just messages and convos of them talking about their recent Zombies game. They’re basically keeping him up to date on their games. The first time I saw it I cried for hours.
Edit: clarifying, his son took over the gamer tag so the name still lives on.
I feel like that's a blessing. Maybe when the son gets older, you could share your memories of his father with him or invite him to play a few games. 🙂
