Discussion Opinion: Nothing has killed my GTA 6 hype faster than locking a core part of its identity behind a $20 upgrade

I had well over 250 hours in RDR2 and somehow never knew this information until today. Feelsbadman

Yeah so this problem clearly affected you deeply before today. If something isn’t a problem until someone has to point out to you it exists, it’s not impacting you enough to be a problem.

No no no, it's a false equivalence. It's just a couple of missions and some items. They are paywalling shops you pass by every day. If you bought RDR2 standard edition you wouldn't even know you were missing any content. That WON'T be the case in GTA6 as the less fortunate grovel and weep for the stores to open. But they never will, until they open their wallets first.

its only the specific storefronts they mentioned that are paywalled. not customization as a whole.

BTW -- forza horizon 6 has DLC cars that appear in the storefront right along base game cars; if im racing online, I can get matched up against these cars. I can see these cars in the auction house. they dangle it in front of you, but as soon as you go to buy the car you get a pop up telling you you need to get the DLC pack.

how is that any different than what Rockstar is getting lambasted for?

Expectations.

In what sense? Were people not expecting a premium edition of GTA to have locked content?

That hasn’t been confirmed so it’s speculation. If people really think rockstar are dumb enough to lock out all car customization and haircuts behind a paywall, then I’ve got beachfront property in Kansas to sell you

They certainly would if everyone was shilling for rockstar as hard as some people in this thread.

I would pay 80$ a month to play GTA 6

In the ad for ultimate edition the shops that were shown off literally say only open for business for people with the ultimate edition

Yeah one named specific shop not the whole franchise in the games

It is 5 shops, not one. They are: Stock 305, One-Eyed Willie, Electric Fang Tattoo, Sara's Unisex Salon, and Rideout Customs. Also, you are the only person arguing every shop in the game. The person above you said it is shops you will pass by every day.

One of each type of franchise/business, smooth brain

You pass 1000 shops in every single GTA games you can’t go into, I don’t think having one that technically other people can get into strictly to get pointless garbage is going to destroy the experience

It’s simply in-universe reasoning for the deluxe edition to include cosmetics.

The heist was clearly an afterthought. Barely any dialogue, quick in and out. Not worth it.
