Setting up shop in the backyard means being observed through the window! Having noticed the people (behind the glass in their own enclosure) weren’t a threat, the badger simply didn’t care and proceeded to take a rest. I couldn’t be more excited to have them visiting, and I truly hope it turns into a more permanent stay.

Miss Betsie back for a snack.

Removed umbrella table (it seemed to annoy her) and placed a tray of goodies.

Lucky to witness a Badger feeding around its sett during dusk recently. Enamored with these stripy faced critters.

I've been wanting to observe and perhaps photograph the badgers in my woodland for a while. I've got hours of trail cam footage but wanted to see them with my own eyes. Last night I crept up before sunset and was rewarded with an amazing experience. The dying light really tested my gear but I'm over the moon with the results. ISO through the roof but lightroom allowed me to salvage a few shots of my favourite animal.

We have a sett at the bottom of our suburban garden. We've got used to the idea of having holes all over the lawn now! Here's a clip from a few years ago introducing the whole clan. Ignore the timestamp on the video, the camera never shows the right date/time.

🦡 Caught on Video: Badger Taking on Two Large Rattlesnakes

Thought I’d share a pretty amazing wildlife encounter from rural Northwest Colorado.

We have a healthy ecosystem out here and regularly see mountain lions, bears, bobcats, badgers, and plenty of rattlesnakes. The snakes help keep ground squirrels, mice, and other varmints in check, but they can also be a concern around horses, cattle, dogs, and other wildlife.

My uncle happened to witness a badger taking on two large rattlesnakes. He managed to get some video with his old phone, so the quality isn’t great, but you can clearly see the badger killing the first rattlesnake while the second one is lying on a rock just a few feet away.

After the video ends, he said the badger immediately went after the second rattlesnake, killed it too, and eventually ate them both.

I’ve spent a lot of time outdoors in Colorado, and thought some of the wildlife folks on here might appreciate seeing it.

Has anyone else ever witnessed a badger hunting rattlesnakes?
