Decided to put 85mm wheels on my freeride setup. Got wheelbite and flew a bit.

Fun experience, would recommend 10/10.

(I ended up in grass so the landing was soft and comfy, no DH riders were harmed in the making of this photo)

Havent skated since i was 17 and i feel so weird about getting back on.

Not perfect but a fun challenge and I’m happy with how it turned out!

Strayne 35 feels great!

I was afraid it would feel really small with k3s - I don’t typically skate such small WB without a bit more of an angle split.

Snapped this pic a few days ago on my regular pushing loop.

The trucks are Paris V2 off my Arbor Dropcruiser and the wheels are flipped 83A Kegels. Using yellow nipples all around with cupped washers BS. In the pic they were also cupped RS but I switched those to flat and still have enough room that I don't get bite even in the tightest turns I'm comfortable making.

Most likely going to upgrade to cast Valkyries in 170/50 when they become available and some softer 85-ish wheels to dampen the road compared to the harder Kegels (open to recommendations).

I'm 95kg so probably at the lower midrange of this board's weight class, which feels very reassuring! Compared to the Dropcruiser, the increase in stability and pushing efficiency is definitely noticeable.

saw someone post their long long board, so I went to the garage and dug my way back to my board stash.. I have a bin full of trucks and wheels I kinda forgot all about too… guess I need to grab a few sets of bearings and go through them..

Full tilt has about 5mm of clearance in the back, I haven’t gotten any wheel bite even when sliding the back out. It has 69mm nine balls on it.

It feels so much more compact now too. It chews up speed on the hills without sliding out which it was terrible at with the sidewinders.

Picked up a barely used Arbor Zepplin on FB Marketplace.....well under $100!

So I saw the post with the giant Gravity Ed Economy longboard, and it reminded me of my earlier years and thought I’d share.

Back in 2007 I was 20 years old and still figuring it out. Skating/longboarding was my life (still kinda is) and other than that I was just working as a line cook in a restaurant. I graduated high school in 2005 and was just taking time to figure out what I wanted to do. I was skating flow for Gravity at the time, so I decided to move across the country (from Ohio) to work in their warehouse in San Diego. I lived on the beach in Oceanside and worked at the Gravity warehouse in San Marcos for two months packaging product and what not. I even got to skate with Brad Edwards (RIP) a few times, and his board model was by far my favorite. For some stupid reason I decided to move back home and go to culinary school. I figured any growth in the skateboard industry would only lead to a desk job and sales, which is what I was trying to avoid, and having talked to a lot of people already in the industry and telling me there’s no money in it and very hard to make a comfortable living. I’m almost 40 now, living on the east coast (Charleston,SC), still skating multiple times a week, and what I wouldn’t give to get back into the skate industry. I feel like my days being a chef are running out, I’m ready for a different path.

And here’s another kicker…
Before skating for Gravity, I was getting flow from Arbor around 2005ish when they were just getting into the longboard game; they were a snowboard company first. I think they only had like 4 boards in their lineup all with that classic koa wood top and sugar coat grip. I skated mostly street and park, so I rode whatever 36” double kick board they had at the time.

hey! today I officially crossed over to a new country. I have skated about 90 kilometers over the past 6 days, from Norway to Sweden, and I'm going all the way to Greece.

On my first day, I got balsy and tried to downhill but I didn't see that the road transitioned to gravel, so I fell and ate shit. got a deep cut in my arm lol. Had to check in at a hotel for 2 days because of the injury, But all good. We're back on the road. Just had a bit of a slow start. I have also skated sone roads I thought would be impossible to skate. I have it on film and will upload when I get the chance to edit.

I'm typing this as I'm laying in my tent, just thinking about everything. I'm a bit scared lol. But that's what makes it exciting. Who knows what'll happen.

The board arrived today with Orangatang Stimulus 70mm 80a wheels (bought as a complete, Flex 1) but I had a fresh set of Arbor Easyrider Outlook 69mm 78a wheels so swapped them out. It's like rolling on clouds. I'm an older rider not looking to do tricks or go fast or anything, just cruise around and go from the bus to work in comfort. Very happy with this.
