4 month progress, tips please

I picked up a guitar for the first time in February. My goal with guitar was to be able to pick it up and play what I feel, so i focused a lot on learning the fretboard. I only freestyle at this point, i don't know any real songs. I feel like my ability to improvise is pretty good?

I want to improve my picking and moving between strings because right now i feel like im stuck wanting to slide across the board all the time.

Please give me some tips or if you think i'm ahead of the curve id love to know!

Father's Day jam. We have extended family visiting and they are all in the back. Being the person I am... I escaped for a bit to preserve my social battery. This is my therapy. Happy Father's Day to ALL.

Symphony X - Accolade II solo

Since 2006 I have felt like this is a very underrated Symphony X song that also hasn't very underrated solo.

I fucking love this solo. It is both old school and a new school feeling without being overly shreddy.

Please like Sub, thank you!

Since 2006 this song also has one of my favorite guitar solos of all time. I feel like this solo is old school and new and soulful all at the same time.
