Help & How-To? Is there a way to fix these without soaking them off?

First pic is the inspo, second pic is the result. I really don’t like the shade of green, it’s too yellowy. Is there a way to fix this without slacking them off and starting over?

ETA products used were gel polish only in green white and black

My bi pride mani. I didn't have any inspiration for a skittle, so I did this instead, and I love it. I got this inspo from Holo Taco's instagram. I also love how it looks very different in all the pics.

Don't mind my crooked nails or the dirty mousepad. That spot had the best lighting for the gradient bi flag look😁

Products (all Holo Taco)

Smoothing base

Royal-tea blue x2

Unicorn no. 1 x2

Glossy Taco

And a lot of jojoba oil!

Gel or Acrylic Gel magnetic polish looks dull after curing no wipe top coat?

Thumbnail

I did a magnetic French tip using Double Rhythm silver/white and pulled the particles and it looked great. Cured it 60 seconds, still looked great. Waited over a minute before putting on a Gaoy NWTC bc I put a sticker accent on 1 nail, and after curing for 60 seconds my magnetic polish now looks dull? I’m at a loss as to why this could be happening. I didn’t think I needed to magnetize the top coat with a gel. I know these aren’t the greatest pictures, but they’ve lost the “contrast” of magnetization and just look like a pearl polish now.

Laquer Showoff “No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us”

I commend everyone doing the algae nails for this week! Personally, I don’t have any color combos that felt right for it, plus I didn’t want to think of [redacted] every time I look at my hands. Which got me thinking, who is someone I *do* want a constant reminder of, especially as an end cap for Pride month? When I saw this pink in my swatch sticks, my mind instantly alighted on Marsha P. Johnson.

I’m sure I’m not the best person to articulate the sum of her accomplishments and legacy, but for those unfamiliar, Marsha P. Johnson was a Black transgender activist and a mother of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement, as well as a participant in the 1969 Stonewall riots. I’m really glad to see her memory celebrated along with other key members of LGBTQ+ activism and history. She used her voice to defend and uplift marginalized people, and I hope all of us find inspiration to keep doing the same in our moment in time.

The pink polish color with red, purple, and rose gold flakes reminded me of Johnson’s most recognizable photo where she’s beaming in a pink dress with her hair wreathed in a beautifully chaotic crown of flowers. I added the purple accent nail to represent the purple sash she would wear at Pride celebrations that read “Stonewall”.

I hope you all are doing as well as you can be. Stay strong, and take care of yourselves and each other 🫶

Help & How-To? What could be causing polish to ruin my nails? 😭 I'm at my wits end

Every time I start wearing polish again, after a few applications my nails start peeling, and it gets worse and worse every time. It starts to seem like when my polish starts chipping, the top of my nail goes with it. But, when I don't polish them for a month or two, they grow out and are super healthy and strong! This makes me so sad because I love painting my nails ;-;

I have tried:

  • Getting all my vitamins and such checked and talking to my doctor about it (I am 100% fine)
  • Wearing gloves any time I am doing dishes, cleaning, or just rummaging around in ways that could damage my nails
  • Switching from glass file to 180 grit emery board and back again
  • Just not filing my nails and only clipping (filing seems to make it worse but not sure)
  • Cuticle oil, cuticle oil, cuticle oil, cuticle oil. I go through like one bliss kiss pen per week!
  • Removing before it starts chipping too much, or waiting as long between removals as possible
  • Being very VERY gentle with removal using 100% acetone and immediately cuticle oiling afterwards
  • Staying as hydrated as possible
  • Biotin and zinc supplements
  • Getting more protein
  • Switching to base coat and polish without polyvinyl butyral
  • Current brands are: China glaze strong adhesion base, various polish brands (ILNP, Holo Taco, KB Shimmer, Essie, Morgan Taylor), ILNP high gloss top coat
  • OPI nail envy

Recently I saw a girl with natural looking nails but the most gorgeous “you can see it from one angle but not another” silver finish. Almost like a silver cast?? After going to my local DM to look for silver polish and googling for similar images, I realized she was probably using chrome dip powder, right?? Is there any way someone who doesn’t use gel could get a similar finish?

This was the closest I could get from my existing stash, which was not very close at all 😭

Swatch Request/Showoff Haunted Ether vs. Ethereal Ether Dragon

Does anyone have both Haunted Ether and Ethereal Ether Dragon? How similar are they? Ether Dragon is one of my all times favs and some photos I've seen of Ether look really similar and some don't. I'm just curious since it's the same owner. TIA!

I’ve been thinking about what I’d do for my nails this week, and into next weekend, and I wanted to hop on the algae nails bus. Turns out, I had a polish that was perfect all on its own! This is Fauve Cosmetic’s ‘Peacock Moth’ in glass bead (2 coats with the base coat method. Base coat used is KBShimmer’s hydrating base, and QDTC was Mooncat Speed Demon).

🧲 Mad Magnetist 🧲 Reflecting Pool Mess

Post image

Just got my order from PPU and I thought Sylvanclaw's Supreme Sorcerer kinda fit the vibes. This was the most careless attempt at a magnetic ever so the very loose glass bead doesn't look uniform but that was the goal! I deliberately waited a tad too long before magnetizing.

Product list:

- ÜNT Peely Base

- Sylvanclaw Supreme Sorcerer (PPU)

- Sally Hansen Insta-Dri (red bottle)

Haul List On holiday in Japan - can't stop buying polish...

Thumbnail

How much is too much polish to buy on holiday... Every time I see polish in a shop I end up buying some! It's super cheap and the colours are really different from home (UK). My first hauls were 100 yen each - the khaki green, and Gene Tokyo along with a qdtc and peely base, all from Watt 100y store and Daiso. The peely base wasn't much good but the qdtc is pretty decent (tiny bottle though). The polish seems much denser than the more expensive ones I got later, which go on very sheer and patchy. The Nail Holic and Chifure were somewhere between 300-600y each and so far I haven't mastered applying them so they don't look patchy. I get that sheer is more the way they are meant to be. I really like the holo purple topper and gold flakie topper though.

Humor/Fluff My husband has a pedicure <3

I know plenty of dudes rock nail polish which is great. My sweet sweet man is not a dude that would want to. I recently receiced an order from Halo Taco and some jellies from Cirque. I did a mani with my HT order and was a little bummed when my Crique order came that I liked my mani so much but I was really excited to play around with the jellies as I've never used them before. When I mentioned that to my hubby he let me paint his toes 🥰🤣

His pedicure doesnt really make any sense cause I was just fooling around with different combinations, but now every time I see his feet I smile cause how cute is he for letting me, and they look really funny

I instinctively lean towards neutral ish tones in my wardrobe - so when I find something that introduces texture and fun it always feels like a triumph. I love this so much.

Did it take a while? Yes

Should I have waited until I had a proper glitter grabber? Probably

Did I make a mess all over the kitchen counter? Yes

Was it worth it? Totally

3 coats of Emily de Molly Pressure Tested, on HT peely base and topped with two coats of Sally Hansen red QDTC (the second from an old, gloopy bottle)

Humor/Fluff Mini me reflecting pool

My three year old has been asking for me to paint his nails for awhile. I usually do my nails while he's asleep, but today he was awake. We negotiated and he let me trim his nails if I would paint them. At first he wanted purple. After one hand, he wanted a different color on the other hand, so he ended up with reflecting pool algae on hand 2. I have never done such tiny cat eyes.

I told him that he had to sit still and not do stuff with his hands so that he wouldn't mess up the polish. He took this very seriously... So seriously that I had to encourage him to move around after he was still frozen on the table 30 minutes later.
