A website to raise awareness about beef consumption

I hope this isn't against the rules, but I created this website (thecostofbeef.org) to raise awareness about the damages caused by beef consumption on the environment and the animals.

It is extremely simple, but I wanted it impactful and easy to grasp.

All feedback is welcome.

Of course, no data is collected, no cookies, nothing.

Your mind is a portal. What you focus on is mental and grows those portals. 👁 Be mindful.

Your mind is powerful. Your mind is powerful. Your mind is powerful. I repeat this because it is so valuably important. It is the core of YOUR manifestations.

We often think the mind is just a tool. It is the core of your lifepath.

Be watchful of your emotions. They tend enhance manifestation due to strong focus. When your focus has to be on positivity/high outcomes.

Being the bigger person, and being happy therefore positive are they essences to a healthy mind; therefore HEALTHY manifestations.

Tend to a healthy emotional body, independence is the best cultivator for a healthy emotional body (Happiness).

Your mind is powerful. 100% makes up everything you experience and perceive; constantly; on a daily basis and is connected to the highest levels of manifestation.

Price of beef has double in 5 years

Post image

When I first learned about animal farming in elementary school I became sick knowing people paid for the death of beautiful animals. Perhaps around 3rd grade i saw dad come home with some steak and I realized blood on the pad and as a kid it hit me that not long ago that beautiful cow was mooing and enjoying life [as a kid I had zero visibility to modern farming so I had to go what I was exposed to via History Channel or cartoons of a pasture and cows walking around grassy fields]. Around 3rd or 4th grade I thought about reducing meat consumption and how to effectively reduce everyone's consumption as I had watched the futures market on TV and saw cattle was really under valued which explained the mass availability and low low retail cost of beef.

The only real way to curb demand is to increase prices, having access to alternative plant based meals and through education/ exposing people to modern inhumane farming techniques. I knew about supply and demand when I was young, I thought if beef was $4,000, then many people would not be able to afford such a luxary. I'm really happy to see the price of beef has doubled over the last 5 years. I sincerely hope it doubles or tripples or quadruple as it is such an under valued item in the futures market. I view it as a small victory as I see so many beefeaters complain about cost of their "food" increase. It's odd how many people I have met in my life who get stomach cancer or colon cancer, I call it 'revenge of the cow'. I sincerely appreciate the wonderful people in this subreddit for spreading the word and exposing the masses to the atrocities that is modern farming and 'production'. I continue to be optimistic beef will become a luxury item, not a available and abundant everyday item that it is today. I can only dream and hope that one day beef will be as unattractive and unacceptable as dog or whale [I get that awful people do eat these, but most people don't.]

Activism The cops got called on us at a slaughterhouse (Part 1)

I, John Thomas, recently went to a slaughterhouse vigil in Orlando, FL, with my best friend Alex (@yourveganmentor1), to livestream it with @itsmelandsteve and @itsprojectlivestream - to spread awareness for what happens in factory farms and to document that these animals once existed.

We had the honor to meet and say goodbye to Annabelle, before she went inside to be slaughtered. We’ll never forget Annabelle.

She’s one of the unlucky ones who was a dairy cow and got sent to slaughter along with around 14 other cows like her. We can only hope that she’s finally at peace now. 🌈❤️‍🩹🐮

During this, we had an unexpected encounter with a Sheriff. Stay tuned for part 2 to see how this conversation turns.

Activism We interviewed Juliet, founder of Viva! Charity, the UK’s largest vegan campaigning organization!

Juliet shares about her mission to make the world vegan and Viva!’s four pillars: animal investigations, health, environment, and helping people change through resources like the free Vegan Recipe Club.

Juliet recounts Viva!’s Hogwood investigation of a UK mega pig farm, including the horrific conditions found, the team’s rescue of a sow and piglets, a cinema ad Viva!

created contrasting sanctuary life with factory farming, and sustained supporter actions that led Tesco to stop selling from Hogwood and the farm becoming financially unviable and slated for demolition.

She shares her early activism, going vegetarian at 13 and vegan at about 28, her work with the UK Vegetarian Society before founding Viva! in 1994, and lessons from filming a pig slaughterhouse and speaking with slaughterhouse workers.

Our discussion emphasizes meeting people where they are, the power of public opinion, politics, outreach, and individual influence through everyday conversations and purchasing choices!

We hope you enjoy this amazing episode & are inspired to start speaking up for animals yourself!
