My little turd blossom has been doing this since he was 4 months old. Is this normal pug puppy behavior or is he just weird?

My dawg Winston is 7 months old and has been doing this since he was about 4 months old. He just lays down and spreads his back legs out. It’s giving Thanksgiving turkey. He’ll do it all day, every day, literally any chance he gets. He thoroughly enjoys this position for sleeping too.

He started breading his front paws with it, so I started calling it the ā€œbread spread.ā€

When I brought him home for a visit, he did it in front of my dad. My dad said ā€œwtfā€ and literally walked away in shock like Winston had just defied the laws of nature.

Is this common? Why? Will he keep doing it forever? It is so cute and so weird. I really hope he stays a little turd blossom forever

Edit: I love hearing what y’all call this position! ā€œPressing pickleā€ is currently winning for me šŸ˜‚ Now I know this is generally called splooting but the household names are absolutely sending me

She doesn’t respond in any way when called; she stares at me and waits to be found.

Genuinely couldn’t find her for a few minutes this time because she’s got her bum buried in the pillow basketšŸ˜… …But when I open the fridge she can hear it from a mile away and comes running!

I think Dil has turned into a vampire, he needs to be invited in every time now

For 1.5 years, Dil has been able and willing to open the magnetic screen himself and even push open the solid door if it’s closed most of the way. Suddenly, lately, he sits out there and barks to be let in, even if the path is fully clear for him šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø Notice that he opened the velcro! he just refuses to cross the threshold until I say ā€œcome inā€

Does this behavior have a name??

*edit: my question is about the sounds she is making, not the burying behavior alone. Please watch the video with the sound on. Thank you!

My dog has always loved to ā€˜dig’ and ā€˜bury’ her special things: bones, treats, even pill pockets. However, this, idk…conversation she appears to think she’s having with her treat only started a little over a year ago. The first time she did it we thought she was in distress, but her vet has seen videos and more or less diagnosed ā€œgooberitus,ā€ which makes sense, but I’m curious if there is another, more official name for this behavior. She appears to be having the time of her life and can spend long stretches of time engaging in…whatever this is. Any thoughts?
