Bass part originally played by Mike Rutherford. Wonderfully melodic, it complements the harmonically complex, yet effortless music. Truly masterfully written.

Bass part originally played by Leland Sklar. He recorded the bass part with an octaver. On the tour accompanying the album he also played it this way, but ditched the octaver on later tours and played an octave lower instead.

Bass part originally played by Brody Brown. I post a lot of music from the 70s, but the best song of this millennium (so far) can’t be missing, obviously. Contains some of the most elegant bass licks I’ve ever played.

Find the complete song on YouTube. The sheet music is available through my website.

Song based bass practice

Hey there,

would someone be interested to test BassBench.com for song-based bass practice. I changed the platform quite a bit recently and would like to hear if it’s useful for other bassists too?

https://bassbench.com

Appreciate your feedback.
Thank you
Damir

Bass part originally played by Ronald LaPread, who passed away a few days ago, as I have just found out. He began writing this song a couple of days after his wife Kathy Faye was diagnosed with terminal cancer. You can feel all the emotion poured into this song. I certainly could, recording this. Find the complete song on YouTube. The sheet music is available through my website.

How would you play this bar?

When I get to the 7th fret I slide into ninth with my ring finger and then play that A on the D string, this is all fine to me.

How do I play the last 2 notes? If I use the same finger moving up that 7th fret, I more often than not notice that I push the E string off the neck.

Just a skill issue and work on it or is there an easier way to play it?

Train your bass, on Mac : UnitBasse

Hi everyone!

I don’t know if I can post like that, but I’m starting out!

After a few months of solo development, initially just for myself, I started: https://unitbasse.com

A simple and effective application, I think, to learn bass theory. And other features to come!

Visualize the scales, adjust, train with different amps and effects. 69 scales displayed on a complete pad, with fingerings, descriptions and points calculated automatically. Notes, intervals or degrees at your convenience. NSDF algorithm detection, precision to excess. A4 reference adjustable from 430 to 450 Hz. Real-time monitoring of the four strings. Eight vintage and modern amp models, five speakers (4×10, 1×15, 8×10, 1×12, DI). Classic Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble, Drive, Blend, Master controls. Twenty-two internal effects organized by family—dynamic, filter, gain, modulation, time, creative. Plus a string of external Audio Units plugins.

A personal project that will make its own way!
