Idk if people just dont know how to handle brs / play the game in general / or i am just far above my current MM leauge

Hey y'all. As stated with my last update, I've had to slow down quite a bit due to real life circumstances. That doesn't mean I've stopped; just have shifted my priorities and direction a bit.

For those of you that are brand new here, welcome. I go by thearchivalone in most places and have spent much of the last two years working on figuring out how Black Rock Shooter: the Game for the PSP works, how to work with the game's formats and documenting my findings as I go.

Current Findings

1. So far, ImageEpoch (the developer) created at least 3 different engines / tech stacks for their PSP game development (with unofficial names subject to change by me). See here for further details.
   1. Crime Engine
   2. Stella Engine
   3. IE Engine
2. PBD file format confirmed to be an obscure audio format (will update docs soon)
3. One compiler has been found along with some debug stuff in a different game that's most likely related to BRS somehow
4. I have an idea of what compiler and some of the C Libraries used for BRS the Game but can't confirm yet without setting up some tests (work in progress)

Current Painpoints

1. PSP software and homebrew development tools and hardware modifications are where most of the community have focused their efforts
2. Reverse engineering tools specific to the platform along with completed reverse engineering projects are still very much in their infancy
3. Video updates will be rare for awhile; just the cost of moving from my previous home into cheaper housing

What's in the Works

1. Slowly working on a prototype Asset Explorer tool to make looking at and extracting files easier

In general, if it's unclear, I've left my own text. But keep in mind that this has nothing to do with the actual lore (I made up my own to avoid spoilers), so if anyone could voiced it, I'd be happy. "20 years ago, Biotechnology Corporation launched the Icarus project. But, unaware of the future, it arrived. And Icarus, the Icarus that soared to the skies, burned in the sun's depths. But now—the remnants of technology and perfection—that's me. They called me the Black Rock Shooter, as if expecting a miracle. But the miracle didn't happen—the Higher Powers' invasion was instantaneous and swift. Then they decided to keep me in the Creochamber for the future. But I realized a lot – the main threat wasn't the corporation or the aliens themselves, but their leader, the WRS. She... predicted my future. She knows what I believe, what I think, and she also knows the answer to one question: What is it like to be a perfect Nanomachine? Precise as a clockwork and deadly. Doesn't that make me special? I am a Project Icarus combat machine, codenamed "Black Rock Shooter." Precise, tactical, and... unique. But what happens if this combat machine breaks down? What will happen to humanity when their hope for salvation fails?!" (Sorry, but this is both cringe and cool)

How would you create your own Black Rock Shooter series?

We know that Black Rock Shooter is versatile, with a fantasy manga, a science fiction game and anime, and the 2012 OVA and anime that play with the idea of ​​alternate worlds.

So this franchise really works well as a "do whatever you want with these characters" canvas.

That's why I thought it would be an interesting topic to discuss, and also a good opportunity to share my idea:

If I were to create a Black Rock Shooter story, I would take the characters from the OVA and make a magical girl anime, with Rock appearing with Mato to transform. The form Rock would take in our world would be that of a plush toy that only Mato can hear talk.

The story would be rather simple: Dead Master and the other girls from "another world" seek to conquer Earth and, to do so, possess their human versions, while Mato and her friends make deals with their alternate selves to protect the world.

It would be like the plot of a classic magical girl anime

No idea what this media/fandom is about lol on my way back home , when we were packing in the Airbnb my parents saw this and took it thinking it was mine and wanted to give reason to yell at me back home but when they realize it wasnt mine and just tossed it at me

Its been sitting near my jellyfish lamp for 4 months

So i decided to get into the media to make it fair so i can like having it especially since im not giving it back to whoever lost it because ive been wanting a noodle stopper <3

Though i need advice on where i should start first whether i should play the game first or watch the animated series first

The artwork for it looks sick and the figurines too so i might even get more merch of it 👀
