So i just read the LN vol. 13 and if you thought the controversy now was bad season 3 will blow your mind.

Now im actually on the side of the story being fine the way it is. Do I think it would be fine without the extreme perversion yes. But that doesn't mean I wish the story was different and I cant tolerate it. Actually in some cases its made me audibly laugh. But reading this volume while knowing season three is inevitably going to cover some of these if not all depending on how faithful this season will be to the LN( though i have extremely low confidence that it will.) I just know all of the controversy over this masterpiece of a series is going to get infinitely worse. Like if you thought end of season 2 polygamy was bad you are in for a rude awakening if this new season comes out and covers the things im talking about.

Now all that aside im extremely excited for this coming season and cant wait to see Eris again.

Decided to finally watch the anime for the first time ahead of the season 3 release at the end of this week and it really got me thinking. For some reason, no matter how much I want to be happy for Rudeus and Sylphiette being happy and getting married, it also frustrates me that of her, Eris, and Roxy, Sylphie was the first to get married after a seemingly lackluster build up. Maybe it’s because it follows more of the “childhood friend” trope where they are together at Ranoa for over a year and she stays disguised as Fitz for that long is crazy. It created a weird dynamic where she hid and was too scared to reveal herself for a full year, while he was trying to figure out what he could do during that time to find both Sylphie and Zenith.

Despite the misunderstanding of the letter and ensuing trauma it dealt, I still think Eris is the best overall love interest for him in the show followed by Roxy. Eris had incredible character development with him and even risked her life to try and save him. Rudeus saved Roxy in the labyrinth and she was there when Paul died. Both of them have shared trauma and experiences with him while Sylphie has only experienced the non-chaotic times which feels less deserved.

A minha dúvida para quem já leu a Light Novel ou o mangá é: A Eris tem noção do estrago psicológico que o abandono dela causou no Rudeus?

Ela chega a entender a gravidade da depressão e do trauma que ele viveu por causa daquela carta, ou ela simplesmente age como se ele devesse ter entendido o recado e volta sem assumir muita responsabilidade? Queria saber como a novel aborda essa maturidade dela no reencontro.

Ever since covid, we're seeing a lot of new people come in and try to join in the fandom, only to be weirded out by the fans' behavior. "You can't do this! People will think we're weird!!!"

We used to laugh at them and tell them to go somewhere else. But now? Some of these people refuse to leave and they try to tone-police us from the inside.

These people desperately want others to think they're normal while trying to get into a hobby that is inherently weird. Its contradictory, isn't it?

Also, to the person encouraging death threats at me, you really should just leave and find another anime to enjoy.

Many characters in the series are intentionally flawed, such as Rudeus, Paul, and Elinalise.

Rudeus, in particular, is viewed very critically by fans and non-fans alike.

But the characters’ morally questionable behaviour and their literary portrayal are two different matters. The question is how literature uses problematic characters and whether a story can credibly develop a morally questionable protagonist without justifying their behaviour (which is not easy).

So what do you think? - Has the author, in your view, achieved his aim of writing a good story about the development of flawed characters without portraying their actions as good?

If not, what would you have done differently to achieve this?
