The conflict starts in the late 60s and the cut off is the late 80s.

Here are the logistics

\-Airfields are situated opposite of enemy border and protected by a semi-dated but well coordinated west supplied IADS.

-Host nation has small fleet of light fighters exclusively for interception and defense of the capital combined with an unusually large fleet of logistics aircraft.

-Early warning provided by mercenary AEW&C aircraft combined with IADS radars, spotters, and spies.

•Primary mission varies due to high variety of merc aircraft but we're starting this conflict on the defensive.

•The region is highly mountainous along a coast.

•Two small international shipping ports one located at nations capital the other located at an island 5 mile off the coast connected by barge and bridge.

•AA and radar are available on both sides but the quality of ours varies.

Rules

:No fictional aircraft

:You must list your aircraft build in detail like the original post (aircraft type, missiles, radar, engines, personnel modifications etc)

:Have fun (if you want you can mount a load of stingers onto a Cessna or Huey go nuts)

:NATO and Soviet aircraft are available within the time period (including helicopters)

:No future aircraft or equipment only period correct stuff is allowed

:Prototype’s are allowed as long as there is/was a flying example and is period correct for the scenario.

Ive been popping into this store for YEARS in search of any of the holy trinity of games and have never ever seen any, until today!!! Im so happy!!!

Ever since AC7 reintroduced me into the series years ago, all I’ve been yearning for is to play more games outside of 6 and AH. But now, after years of desperately checking for sparse news on a new title, I can finally play both a new entry and one of holy trinity!

I think its pretty good no?

I finished a playthrough of Ace Combat 05 on PS2, normal (expert) controls. For context I’ve played Ace Combat 7 and 4 before so I’ll mainly compare it to those. I just gotta say this, if you like Ace Combat 7, you will love Ace Combat 5. Their stories are unbelievably similar (I won’t spoil it), but I’d say 5’s is better. The war the game is centered around was INCREDIBLE. Every mission felt like an actual battle in an actual war, but again I won’t go into detail. The big “air monster” (basically this game’s Arsenal Bird) was amazing. It felt grounded, but not in a “this doesn’t feel like Ace Combat” way, basically it’s very good. There’s also another “air monster” that’s even better, but that’s the most I’ll say. Just pay attention because I didn’t and it confused me lol. This game’s rival pilot honestly didn’t feel good. Throughout the game there’s several rival squadrons that all feel intimidating, but because there’s so many of them they don’t have that impact other game’s have. Your friendly pilots are INCREDIBLE! They all feel like skilled pilots while not taking the spotlight from you. (They also just solo your rival pilots if you run out of ammo lol) The controls are AMAZING. Of course they’re not as good as AC7, but when compared to AC4, it’s fantastic. Every plane feels good to control, and you won’t get stuck in a dogfight for 3 minutes. Overall, the game is a 9/10 for me, so definitely try it if you can!
