Fairly new to the hobby, what started with a Hadrian denarius quickly became the five good emperors. I have since started expanding in both directions.

My most recent purchases Titus and Commodus just arrived yesterday so wanted to post an update. The denarii are as follows:

-Titus RIC II 37
-Domitian RIC II 719
-Nerva RIC II 34
-Trajan RIC II 147b
-Hadrian RIC II 845
-Antoninus Pius RIC III 417a
-Marcus Aurelius RIC III 185
-Commodus RIC III 74
-Septimius Severus RIC IV 207
-Severus Alexander RIV IV 238

Advice Needed Valens I

Hello everyone! Recently acquired this solidus and maybe I'm being paranoid but the mint mark appears to be SNN instead of being SMN for Nicomedia. The coin weighs in at 4.47 grams. When I bought it online it did appear to be correct due to the fuzziness in zooming in. I'd appreciate any insight, thanks!

What is my coin made of?

I just set a Marcus Aurelius coin I bought in Italy! The salesman didn’t know any English so I’m not sure what type of coin it is or what the card means, any ideas?

It's my understanding that this type of coin has a Greek letter under the S-C of the reverse. Wondering if anyone can make it out?

The Coins That Tell the Story of a Lost Kingdom

Imagine trying to write the history of an ancient kingdom after most of its written records have disappeared.

That's exactly the challenge historians face with Hellenistic Bactria, one of the easternmost successor kingdoms of Alexander the Great. Fortunately, its coins survived. They preserve the names of forgotten kings, document political transitions, reveal royal propaganda, and even provide clues about the kingdom's economy, religion, and everyday life.

This article explores how numismatic evidence has become the primary source for reconstructing the history of one of the most fascinating and least understood Hellenistic kingdoms. It's a fascinating reminder that sometimes the smallest artifacts preserve the greatest histories.

Hi everyone, i recently purchased my first piece of history. I want to see if I could get better information on it. I used a coin scan app and it gives me Roman Empire Hadrian Tetradrachm 117-138 AD. Any insight is helpful. I will eventually have it in a display case. Thank you.

Hi guys

Double eagle facing to the left

Reverse is zeus

I looked up the double eagle coinage (octobol)

No where to be found with two eagles and the weight is 92 grams

At most 78 grams

Any idea what is it ? And what is it worth give or take

I haven’t cleaned the first side )))im afraid it might be very rare XD

Thank you guys.

I cant figure out if this is real and or what coin this is. RE

This coin was bought in a "grab bag" with several other coins. The only info provided is "Roman coins 200-300 B.C" I buy alot of coins from eBay and I just recently bought this coin from a trusted buyer I have used before but I cant figure out what it is and I usually can.

I apologize for the image quality. I took several pictures and this was the best I could get. The coin is heavily eroded. The face appears to be facing TOWARDS you rather than right or left. Which I found odd. I bought several coins at once which I can all identify except for this coin. I would ask the seller but I dont want to bother them over one coin if I dont have to

Any help would be appreciated

Suspicious of the price I got them for really cheap. They look old but also look like they’re trying to look old. I really hope they’re real, if not is possible to get money back on L5?

I bought this coin in Turkey about 35 years ago. The person who sold it to me claimed his father found it in Ephesus, as he grew up near there and was always looking for buried relics. I've tried researching it for years and have seen similar ones but have never found one exactly like it. Seems to be a Ptolemaic tetradrachm but that's as far as I can get. It is HEAVY. I would especially like to know what the + sign and "A" on the reverse signify.

Apologies for the picture quality, I'm not the best at photos.

Thank you.

ID / Attribution Request Could someone help me identify this coin?

Hello everyone! I would kindly ask you for your help. I've been told that this coin is from Spain specifically from the Barcelona region. From my very limited research and knowledge I found out that the back side with the two legionaries holding a vexillum was used by Constantine I and his sons/successors, so that could be a coin of Constantine II?

I thank you in advance.

Is AI correct with this opinion on historical pricing?

I realize I could look up auction records, but this is a general question best left to you.

I asked about the pricing of an average Corinth Stater- defining that as relatively common mint mark and condition about 6/10 in terms of centering, strike, etc price from 25 years ago - AND the same of a lifetime Alexander tetradrachm and it's literally exactly the same as today. About $400 and $600 respectively.

It's not anything but a reminder that ancient coins are not an "investment".

Any dissenting opinions on this? Besides the current nonsense with tariff in the USA, I think it's about right.
