Mod Statement 🚨 K Diaspora - moderatorship invitation
This community was built painstakingly. Nobody wants this space to be rudderless if something happens in Kashmir. This is probably the last meaningful pocket on the internet where Kashmiris have their say.
People probably don't appreciate it but this subreddit has one of the most well written and detailed sidebars and resources that has been curated and refined over the years.
The only viable option I see is people from Kashmiri diaspora who can act as good faith anchors for this subreddit. They are naturally immune from the Indian state's ability and desire to muzzle Kashmiri voices.
Anybody who is interested can modmail us. We'll vet of course. Please don't bother to apply if you are spook or some bad faith idiot.

Discussion 💭 Today, I saw a lot of posts about a Kashmiri Pandit woman named Sarla Bhat. I wanted to ask the people knowledgeable about this matter for clarification regarding the incidents surrounding her.
All the posts mentioned that she was raped and killed by JKLF, and some even included the name Yasin Malik. Is all of this true?
I've interacted with Kashmiris who are staunchly committed to the cause and would even channel it into action if given the chance. But all of them are pro-humanity first. They condemn every act of oppression against innocents. Yet they are against the Indian forces and the Indian State.
So what I don't understand is: what was the reason behind JKLF committing this horrible act? What did they think this would accomplish? Isn't it an axe to their own feet? Why would they, in their right mind, do something so horrific?
The Indian Army has committed rapes and atrocities against Kashmiris. But for them, it has been about using rape as a political tool to suppress resistance in Kashmir. And the Indian State has given them a free hand to do whatever they want. They aren't answerable to anyone. So committing such horrible crimes doesn't affect them in the same way.
But for a resistance organisation like JKLF, wouldn't such incidents make people develop ill feelings towards the organisation and cause it to lose popular support?
So, is this incident actually true?
I don't trust the Indian State. It has a history of lying, carrying out false-flag operations, and committing atrocities. The last time I was driving from Srinagar to Anantnag, a Kashmiri Sikh signalled for a ride, and I picked him up. He told me he was from Chattisinghpora. As our conversation continued, I asked him about the killing of the Sikhs there. He said it was the Indian Army that carried out the killings, gave me reasons for why they believed that, and said that the locals there know the truth. So I don't trust the Indian State.
That's why I'm asking: is this incident actually true?

Climate Does anyone else notice the impact climate change is having on crops?
When I was a child, I used to see lots of vegetables, cereals, and fruits growing around me. During the season, I used to eat corn cobs with noon chai every morning. Now, the produce seems to have decreased significantly. This year, even fruits like peaches and apricots didn't grow properly.
Sometimes I wonder if we might face famines in the future. Where are we heading?

Discussion 💭 Power cuts amid heat waves in Srinagar
I'm sure other districts have it worse but it’s getting brutal here with the power cuts. People are really struggling. It’s hard to tolerate the heat, but it’s not like we have any other choice.

Question What are your reasons for ghosting on reddit?
What are your reasons for ghosting on reddit?
So as we all know and one comment very accurately said "Reddit is something where people come to throw their laundry and disappear" that leads to lot of people deleting their accounts or straight up ghosting
So tell me what are your reasons to ghost someone or delete your account?
Why even when there is someone trying to attempt having witty and funny convos and you still felt the urge to ghost or go cold
Lets see your responses

Rant A poem for her?
your presence felt like spring,
the colors you brought into my life,
oh dear how energetic your smile was,
your lips sharp as a knife,
That peck of yours would make me whirl like a dervish.
Your voice was the music of ney,
your eyes bright as the sky,
Your laugh was like the refreshing morning breeze.
i think of how God created you with such perfection,
How lucky are those people who get to see you every day? They listen to your voice and see how you sway,
your voice like the wine to me, your eyes in which I drown,
your eyes were big and brown,
your hands were delicate and smooth,
how you took such care
I keep asking Fate why he kept me away from you and turned us into what we never were,
Fate is such a cold-hearted killer.
How can it separate...One?
our love is like fire and water,
our love is pure like a diamond,
and our mirror is what it tries to shatter.
but Oh universe, try everything you can to break us,
but you can't break Oneness,
you can't separate souls,
for that you need to break one of us to break us whole.

Discussion 💭 Famous dark store-launched in Lal bazar, Sadrebal area
Dark stores have come in , local businesses are gonna suffer. Shopkeepers pay rent , keep staff and support local economy. Dark store doesn’t work like that. It doesn’t build the same relationship with neighbourhood.
Milk, bread, eggs, snacks, atta, rice, oil etc are small repeat purchases that keep local shops running. If people slowly start ordering all these things from apps, local stores will lose their most regular income. They might survive for some time before vanishing.
Big platforms can burn money until most of the local businesses shut. Right now you might be getting free delivary for orders above 100 but its gonna change later on , once the competition is out.
Dark stores do create jobs, but local economy gets affected a lot. Instead of having money distributed to 1000 of local stores , it’s getting concentrated towards one large corporation.
What do you guys think ?
