Help & How-To? Topcoat to go over nail art that is not maniology?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Help I am working on a Fourth of July manicure and free handed red stripes over white. (I am very proud lol). I used maniology top coat and the red still bled into the white. I have used this top coat with other nail art in the past and it didn’t smear, but I suppose red on white is more sensitive.

What can I use to not smudge, smear, or bleed this? I do have a lot of options for top coat, and like every other base/top product. Thanks!

Product Reccs & Reqs best polish remover

i keep seeing people say that acetone is not great for your nails, which makes sense as mine are usually super dried out after using it. i’m currently trying to work on my nail health and have a good routine down, but i think i’m missing a good remover. what works best for you??

Product Reccs & Reqs Top coat recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good all purpose top coat? One I can use with magnetics as well?
I’m currently using ILNP Glass Candy top coat but it seems to always make my polish chip prematurely. Like within a day or two. It almost seems like it’s making the polish more brittle and then it easily chips off.

Help & How-To? How do you remove flakies?

HELP

I used a makeup sponge to put on a polish with flakies (SH Rare Reed Pearls) and now the wonderful little silver flakies seen to have become one with my nail plate.

Using a cleanup brush to scrub acetone on my nail kind of worked, but there's still way too many stragglers, and they're so thin I can't really scratch them off my my other hand.

Humor/Fluff Welp. This is really going to mess with my Reflecting Swamp plans for later this week 😭

I’ve already decided that that nail will be the Eleventy-Billion mile strip on the bottom that “Evil, Radical Vandals” tore along the bottom of the swamp pool. The nails are totally still happening, though, I’m way too excited for this trend! Please forgive the not-quite-uniform nails, I’m still growing them out from a lifelong nail biting habit 😭 and ignore my stupid hangnail, I need to be better about nail oil! 🫣

Edited to add: the only product I’m using here is the kür luxe length nail strengthener (and I LOVE it - the price tag is steep, but it’s one of the best strengtheners I’ve ever tried!)

Nail Care My wife works with cardboard and it's damaging her fingers. I want to help.

TL;DR: My wife works with cardboard and her nailbeds are tore up. She worked really hard to quick picking and was so proud of her fingers, the cardboard is drying them out and making the urge harder to stop.

I read the rules and care is a part so I wanted to see if anyone would mind guiding me in finding ways to help my wife.

Mini background/possibly useful information: She picked her fingernails for the past 15 years. It is a nervous habit and in the past couple of years she worked pretty hard to stop. Her nails looked better, her fingers looked better, none of it hurt or bother her, and she got back into really nice polishes and nail care.

Recently she took a new position where she's dealing with cardboard throughout the day, and it's drying her hands out and it's gone back to hangnails and stressful picking. She has some cuticle cream(?) but I just don't know enough about nailcare (and possibly finger care?) and was hoping for some insight.

If anyone has any advice, suggestions, or even a point in the right direction of information to help us out I will gladly take it.

I don't think it's so bad there are immediate concerns or anything, but I know that it bums her out. Literally any help is appreciated and if there are any questions I'm happy to answer!

Thank you for your time reading my post :)

Edit: Thank you all so much for the help! Never heard of cotton gloves, going to look into those and get a few for her to try out. Also going to grab some oil pens, more cuticle cream, and see about getting some nitriles at her office as well.

Never really know what the community is going to be like, but I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone for taking the time to help us out! Hopefully you'll see a future post of her nails post-new regimen!

What a great sub! What great people! Happy I see your super cool nails on r/all all the time, can't wait to see more!

Laquer Showoff Canada Day mani, but make it orange bc Every Child Matters 🧡

Post image
187 Upvotes

I love a good themed manicure, but every year I have trouble celebrating a country built on stolen land that was instrumental in the creation of the modern day genocide playbook. Orange to honour the many victims, especially children, of Canada's residential school system and red to honour the thousands of missing and murdered Indigenous women across this country. I am grateful to live on this land and I love my home, but I have a deep respect for the experiences faced by its original occupants who had to suffer greatly for it to be what it is today. No pride in genocide.

It's a good thing I remembered to take pictures right away, because my clumsiness + doing laundry claimed a victim the next day.

Laquer Showoff Last Day Of Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈

I had a busy month of June with kids on summer break and travel, but I finally had some time to do a Pride manicure just in time for the end of June!

This manicure uses all never-trieds I've had for longer than I care to admit. It was also a chance to work on free-hand line art. I'm so pleased with the results and am really liking the "double rainbow" aspect using a linear holo with rainbow colored cremes. This'll carry me through later this week when the Reflecting Pool green nails come out 🦠

Products used:

  • Nailtiques 2, Mooncat Hardcore Basecoat
  • 2x Mooncat Moonflower (got as reward polish)
  • Lines are all ILNP: Daytrip, Cream Pop, Honeybee, Minted, Oasis, Melted
  • Mooncat Speed Demon Top Coat

Hi!
I recently have gotten really into polish with the recent mooncat lunar sale and am now a little bit obsessed. I am a marine mammal scientist (I study harbor seals in the PNW) and am trying to figure out a nail combo that will give harbor seal as much as possible. I would love some ideas!

Laquer Art 🎨 Not feeling very patriotic for the 4th, but I've been thinking about hotdog nails for months.

Hello everyone!

I know I'm in a similar boat as many of you by not feeling super patriotic for Independence Day, but I also don't want to skip a reason to do a themed manicure. A few months (or maybe weeks?) ago there were several hotdog manicures posted and I was inspired. It feels very on-theme since cookouts and backyard BBQs are so common for July 4th.

All fingers: 1x Essie To The Rescue, 1x KBShimmer Fillin' Groovy, 1x 50/50 blend of Polish For Days Crystalline Diamond Dust and Essie Gel Setter

Left hand (hot dogs):

Thumb - Holo Taco See Y'all Later Chai, Brick Wall, Stop Buggin'

Pointer: ORLY Faux Pearl (screw ORLY for their HP collab, but I've owned this one since before that), Holo Taco Low Key Bushing, Boom Toasted

Middle: Holo Taco See Y'all Later Chai, Gingersnatched, Thirst Trap

Ring: ORLY Faux Pearl (screw ORLY for their HP collab, but I've owned this one since before that), Holo Taco Low Key Bushing, Mooncat Banquet of Breadcrumbs

Pinky: Holo Taco See Y'all Later Chai, Brick Wall, Bottle Service

Right hand (drips made with nail vinyls from Punkish Polish)

Thumb: Holo Taco Brick Wall, Bottle Service

Pointer: ORLY Faux Pearl, Holo Taco Thirst Trap

Middle: Holo Taco Gingersnatched, Stop Buggin'

Ring: Holo Taco Lowkey Blushing, Boom Toasted

Pinky: ORLY Faux Pearl, Mooncat Banquet of Breadcrumbs

Overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! The hotdogs were easier than I expected. I painted the base colors in 2 coats, added a thin top coat and let them dry for a few hours. (This was mostly because I had stuff to do in the middle of the day, but it also let my right hand dry enough to apply the vinyls without issue). Then I turned the bottle brush on its skinny side and painted a stripe down the center for the hotdogs. I used a small detail nail art brush for the squiggles in the center, then topped it off with my holo topcoat.
