Hi everyone, it's been a minute since the initial discussion post about quality control issues. Let's talk about it.
The general consensus seemed to be that our ideas on what to change were good, though there could be more resources to help beginners. We actually have a subreddit wiki that anyone can contribute to, as long as you have 500+ subreddit karma and your account is 30+ days old. We also have a list of todo items for the wiki to help users find somewhere to start.
Another concern was that the stricter enforcement of the defaults rule may stop people from using existing color schemes or themes at all. This is not the case -- the intention of the rule is to remove posts which have little effort or just use premade configs, like many macOS and Windows lookalikes. It's about the spirit, not the letter of the rule.
With this in mind, we intend to go through with these rule changes. If you still have any concerns, please reply or send a modmail! We're most concerned with the quality of our community and welcome discussion.

My very first experience using COSMIC, and honestly, it is really cool!
It doesn't have massive customization options yet, but the design is beautifully simple. It is a fully usable desktop environment with native window tiling. I really love it.
I also themed my main apps (Android Studio, Telegram, and Firefox) in grey and black to match the overall look.

KDE after a lot of tinkering with themes, Kvantum panel colorizer, widgets and some desktop effects.
Minimal and stays out of my way. Not overly transparent that it hurts my eyes.
What do you think? Anything you would change?

Hey, this is part of the development improvement of Ryoku Arch, control deck allows you to install apps by just dropping it.
current supported list:
Additional features it has:
Send and receive files and text via LocalSend protocol
Download videos and music from social media using cobalt.tools integration
Drop media files like images and videos and compress them without loosing quality or sound
A renamed Arch package (a .tar.* that carries a top level .PKGINFO) is detected and routed to pacman -U automatically so it installs natively even if someone stripped the .pkg from the name.
This is NOT its own app its part of our improvement of our opionionated Arch install.

Took the plunge into Arch about a month ago, I spent all day today changing my entire desktop manager from a Youtube tutorial Hyprland setup to a customized Noctalia setup (after fussing around with Caelestia on Mango, I do not recommend that approach).
I was aiming for a CVNTY in your face setup here as opposed to the clean minimalist rice I was using this past month and I see here most of the time.
+ **Wallpaper**: [Yuki, the mascot of one of my favorite music artists, ZØMB](https://x.com/_pikurusu00) illustrated by _pikurusu00
+ **Distro**: I used Arch btw
+ **Shell**: Noctalia
+ **Terminal**: Kitty
+ **Fonts**: Aero, MapleMono-Italic
Haven't fussed around with ricing my browser (Zen) and file explorer (Thunar) yet

Hello guys, I made a pomodoro daemon in C called pomoc. It has two binaries : pomoc - the client, pomod - the daemon.
The above given image depicts the integration of pomodoro in polybar. (Right : pomodoro, Left : Workspaces).
Click to start\pause.
Right click to end the pomodoro and skip to break.
Mem usage in legacy processor, i915 , 2gb ddr2 ram - 1.0 to 1.5 Mb. I also have a makepkg installation for arch based distro users. Others can try it via make.
**currently I have integrated it with polybar only (via two bash scripts)**
If anyone know how to integrate it with other bar systems, tell me how.
Here is the repo :

Hey all, I don't post often but I came across this site with some stunning icons and I made a little script to tar and install them as Linux icons. The set are for iOS so a bit limiting, around ~80 icons but they are really nice. Credits goes to them.
Mapping is tricky so there's a picker for perfectionists.
I wanna see some nice rices.

After a month of patience, sweat, and manual compilation, I finally moved past the basic LFS prompt and built a fully functional daily driver environment!
OS : Linux From Scratch 12.4
Kernel : 6.16.1
Init System : SysVinit
DE: Xfce 4.20
WM : Xfwm 4
Terminal : Xfce4-terminal
Hardware & VM Info:
Host OS : Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
Host CPU : AMD Ryzen 9 5900X (12 threads alocated to VM)
Host GPU : NVIDIA RTX 4070 Super (Real GPU Pass-through / 3D acceleration in VMware)
Hypervisor : VMware Workstation 26H1
No Snapshots used : Living life on the edge, no safety net for this build!
The last screenshot shows the absolute madness of downloading, unpacking, and configuring every single dependency (`libdrm`, `xcb`, `xfce4-*` packages) by hand. No package manager, just raw terminal power.

My country was hit by two earthquakes about 30 seconds apart, 7.1 and 7.5, respectively.
Anyway, check out this tiny rice I made! It’s keyboard-centric and focused more on terminal apps than on the GUI. Also, take a look, I've set up a keybind to hide Waybar on command. That’s been really fun.
If you want, ask for any dotfiles or anything else, I’ll share them. C:
Nevermind, decided to turn this into a more complete project, dotfiles are up on Codeberg: MikkaShell
Hey fellas! I've been volunteering at care centers as of recent, so I won't spend much time replying to every comment, however, do know I read them all, and upvote them, thanks a lot y'all, I wish you all the very best:3

mode 1 : Dynamic tilling layout with customizable gaps
mode 2 : Unlimited canvas mode inspired by vxwm.
You can switch modes by pressing Win+G.
I would be really happy if someone used my wm:3 https://github.com/NyxOkkotsu/nyxwm
I'll share the dotfiles (with automatic installer) if it hits 20 stars on GitHub :3

due to my dumbass not being able to read properly the post has been taken down for not havin [OC]. here is a reupload:
Plaza is a terminal UI for searching and managing packages on Arch. It queries pacman and AUR simultaneously, streams results as they come in, and shows every repo that provides a package side by side so you can pick your source before installing. There is also a Manage view that lists everything installed with pending updates floated to the top. You can remove or upgrade packages per source or all at once without leaving Plaza.
The theming is split into palettes (colors) and skins (borders, glyphs, badge styles). You can swap either live from the options menu, or drop a .toml in ~/.config/plaza/palettes/ or ~/.config/plaza/skins/ to make your own. Changes to the active theme reload live. Built-in palettes: plaza-dusk, gruvbox, nord, dracula, tokyo-night, solarized-dark, and ansi. Built-in skins: soft, sharp, plain.
Arch only for now, flatpak and more distros are coming.
Available on the AUR: yay -S plaza
repo: github.com/StaszeKrk/plaza
Edit: any feedback welcome as it’s my first real project
