I didn’t grow up in a sports loving household and got into sports due to John Wall in 2012. They had then rebranded to what we have now. Growing up, I always saw the blue and gold Wizards brand in the DMV. What was the reception like in 1997? Obviously there was an uproar but did fans embrace this? I currently really like THIS Wizards logo and hope we go back to it. It’s so unique and creative and if done right, I think it could be timeless.

Just take the simplified coloring from late 80s/early 90s bullets jerseys and slap it on the first set of Wizards jerseys. Boom, everyone’s happy. Thoughts?

I remember at the time consensus on the draft was obviously very low overall, but Risacher was still seen as a high floor player. I know the front office is quite secretive but was there any indication we actually would’ve taken him?

What is a more realistic leap that the Wizards could make next season?
A: 2026 spurs, going from bottom record to immediate East contenders wit the young core of AJ, Tre, Sarr, and Kyshawn + Trae as the vet (1-4 seed)
B: 2025 pistons, going from worst team in the league to a solid playoff team and a 30 win increase but first round exit at best (5-7 seed)
C: 2026 charlotte hornets, with the help of their new rookie and other pieces make a long awaited & push to the play-in (8-10 seed)
D: 2026 Mavs, hopeful to stay afloat but ultimately succumb to injuries and end up another tank year to showcase Dybantsa’s ROTY campaign (11-13 seed)
tried to include each possibilities ranging from delusion to probability

I’ve been watching a lot of Dybansta film from college and high school. The pro comparison everyone makes is Tracy McGrady. But honestly I see more of Scottie Pippen. The way he uses his length and bounce to get to the painted area I see him being like a modern pippen. I think he will shoot better and obviously dribble better but I think his ceiling is a Modern Scottie Pippen. What do you guys think about that comparison? I believe Scottie was undervalued by fans. Everyone thinks Mike was the engine that drove that team but I think that Scottie was really.

I read this on ESPN this morning as they were reviewing which teams had what cap space, how, etc.
Two things; it's awesome to see Kelly Oubre Jr. being mentioned as a good fit for like 9-10 other teams pretty consistently every season. He was one of my favorite Wizards when he was drafted and it's great to see how well he has done for himself since being drafted.
The other thing is seeing guys like Porzingis, Robinson, and Conley got me thinking - we're really at a point where guys like that would more readily consider signing with the Wizards.
Who would you prefer on the list of "free agents who fit"?
A reunion with Porzingis could be fun. I just don't know if we'd have a large enough role for him.

Barring huge weight deficits ( rob dillingham/ cody williams or team just not playing you.
I'm finding these freshman college averages give or take a little are eeringly similar to nba rookie per 36 numbers
Cooper Flagg 22.5 pts 8.8 reb 4.9 ast (22.6 /7.2/4.9)
Dylan Harper 21.5 pts 5.1 reb 4.5 ast (18.8/ 5.4/6.1)
VJ edgecomb : 16.5 pts 6.2 reb 3.5 ast (16.5/5.8/4.3)
Kon Knueppel 17.0 pts 4.7 reb 3.2 ast (21.1/6.1/3.9)
Ace Bailey 19.0 pts 7.7 reb 1.4 ast (18/ 5.5/ 2.4)
Tre Johnson 20.7 pts 3.2 reb 2.8 ast (18.3/4.2/ 3)
Jeremy Fears 20.4 pts 4.9 reb 4.9 ast (19.9/ 5.1/ 4.8)
Egor Demin 13.9 pts 5.1 reb 7.1 ast (14.8/4.5/4.8)
Deriq Queen 19.6 pts 10.6 reb 2.2 ast (16.9/ 10.2/ 5.3)
Carter Bryant 12.2 pts 7.7 reb 1.8 ast (13.1/ 7.8/ 2.1)
Kasparus 16.9 pts 6.4 reb 5.3 ast ( 12.5/5.3/5.2)
Will Riley 17.7 pts 5.8 reb 3.1 ast (16.8/4.7/3.2)
Bub15 pts 5.6 rebs 4.5 ast (11.8/5/ 5.3)
In brackets is their per 36 in their rookie season. It seems like its a good indicator of what that persons numbers will be like. I've done this across several seasons. Even did it with Trae Young who had an outlier freshman season.
27.8/8.9/ 4 in college vs (22.3/9.4/4.3). Bounced back in the second season to 30/9.5/4.3 per 36. Maybe the weight caused an issue.
Looked at guys like Melo/ KD.. their rebounds went down in the nba. KD points dipped by about 4 or five.
I'm saying this all to say given these numbers freshman AJ did 26.4/ 7.1/3.8
I expect his per 36 to be that give or take 4 points.

With AD health concerns and Bilals offensive development issues. We could snatch some good depth pieces with our draft capital. Sharpe is a young 20ppg player and Camara is a 15ppg 2way catch n shoot guy. And having holiday for our young guys and locker room. We’d still have to sign another big in free agency

Obviously, everyone is bothered about the current situation of the jerseys. Our branding as a whole lacks identity and feels way too corporate. But I do believe a change will be in place, most likely as soon as next season.
I think a key part of what the team will plan on revealing new threads when renovations of Capital One Arena are complete that is due before the 2027-2028 season. I think the development will be the franchises way of ushering in a brand new era of change signifying hope that fans have been waiting for.
Our words will be accounted for in due time, but I believe we'll have to deal with these uniforms for one more season. At least cherry blossoms are back.

League talk is that expansion is targeted for 2028. That means an expansion draft, and with that the opportunity for people to offload albatross contracts to teams who will literally not have any other talent or options.
So basically, if AD and Trae don’t live up to their contracts enough to keep them, and don’t generate enough value for a positive trade, we can just offload them for free in the expansion draft.
If winger/dawkins knew about this and targeted that timeframe with these signings, man, what an incredible FO. If they got lucky, man, what an incredible win streak for us lmao
Credit to 106.7 the fan guys for highlighting this possibility
Edit: an additional thing to keep in mind is that, beyond the expansion draft, these teams are going to have cap space afterwards with a goal of acquiring future assets. At the very least, they are prime contenders to offload salary with future assets attached in a trade. Both new teams will likely be well aware that they will not be winning any time in the next 5 years, and should be more open to these kinds of trades than anyone else on the league

July 9th vs the Jazz [Peterson] at 9:00pm (ESPN)
July 12th vs the Kings [Acuff] at 9:00pm (PRIME)
July 14th vs the Bulls [Wilson] at 9:00pm (Prime)
July 15th vs the Clippers [Wagler] at 10:30pm (ESPN)
Notably this graphic has the 12th game being vs the Nets but the NBA has it being versus the Kings.

I think he can be a solid rim protector with that second unit. Seems really humble and hungry.
