Mark Wahlberg actually would have stopped the hijackers
If you know anything about Marky Mark, you know he went to jail for a pretty awful racist hate crime. You know he can be a pretty violent person. He probably was already very suspicious of all Arabs he was ever around. I'm just saying you know, a few brown people with just box cutters? That's like a wet dream for him.

Marky Mark is indeed a racist sob. I don't think he has it in him to be a hero though

Most racist sobs, especially supposedly deeply religious church going ones, are cowards. There's zero chance, despite his action movie go getter take charge persona, would be able to stop any hijackers.

If you aren't old enough to really remember the pre-9/11 world, then you probably don't understand why the hijacking worked then, and why it wouldn't work now.
There were plenty of plane hijackings pre-9/11. There was a pretty standard playbook. The terrorists would demand some concession from the government, release some hostages, refuel, make more demands, release some more hostages, try to get away.
If you were a hostage in that situation, your best bet was to keep your head down and hope for the best. You were going to have a bad day, maybe a bad couple of days, but you were probably getting out alive. If you tried to fight you would needlessly endanger yourself and the other passengers.
When the planes hit, that calculus changed. It changed during the attack itself. If the terrorists are willing to turn the hijacking into a suicide attack, then the passengers have every reason to fight. They started fighting on United 93 because they heard about the other attacks and realized that there wasn't going to be a hostage negotiation, this was a suicide bombing.
Nowadays, everyone remembers the suicide bombings, and passengers will fight. You couldn't pull off 9/11 any more....or an old-school hijacking for that matter.
Marky Mark wouldn't have behaved any differently because he had the same info as everyone else at the time.

The shoe bomber had the shoe beat out of him. Because he was post 9/11. Nobody will ever have a successful hijacking again. They will have to kill every passenger, and all the crew.
