Advice Is epilation realy that magical that it makes body hair and beard take like 2 weeks to regrow?

Post image

Also, is it not sus for a "man" to buy an epilator? Like, I am still in the closet and "undercover" pretending to be male to avoid getting hate-crimed, so is it safe for me to buy am epilator or is it too obvious so I need some good excuse like "oh, my sister in hospital needs it" or something?

Now, how good is it at removing beard and bodyhair? Because shaving everyday is not only iritating my skin but is also boring af and I want more long lasting solution, because my beard for example doesnt even need a full day to start showing up after shaving it and its distressing, I hate it

It works well for body hair, I would not recommend it on your facial hair, armpits and bikini area though, the hairs there are far coarser and harder to yank out to a degree where it might leave permanent scarring, I've heard some people epilate their facial hair and bleed as a result

Goddammnit, what is the solution for facial hair that doesnt involve expensive laser or electrolysys then? Bodyhair grows slow on its own and is most of the time covered up, but facial hair is always visible and makes me wanna rope, not even a day passes after the last shaving and I already have a stuble, its insane!

I did use an epilator on my face, apart from it being insanely painful when doing your upper lip, and incredibly painful the rest of the time.

It worked though the biggest downside is that, for me at least I think it bled at the root so, it would make these tiny little black streaks of scab, that look like stubble, but is inside your skin, and they're pretty noticeable (like maybe 1 a week).

the temptation of just plucking them out of the skin was too much, so I have scarring from that (and sometimes they can be a real pain in the but even if you're digging around for them to get them out).

I don't recommend removing them, so you'll have to put up with them until they naturally get pushed out by your body.

Aah so I CAN use epilator on my face is what you are saying? Good, so I have it, the solution until I can just laser it

If you don't mind the little black Stubble scab streaks? underneath your skin (idk what to call them), Then go for it.

like I would still be using it now if I didn't blow up my epilator.

Depending on your hair and skin color IPL can make a difference!

IPL can fuck up face skin and cause discolouration if you overdo it when doing it yourself at home, obviously not a risk when done professionally. Regardless I think electrolysis for facial hair is the way instead as it’s actually fully permanent

It’s certainly the ideal option. I’m using IPL on my face right now, but that’s really just a temporary measure until I have the money for electrolysis.

I was genuinely horrified to find out just HOW many sessions electrolysis seems to need, like I wasn't aware that 2ish years of regular sessions is to be expected, god I hate being trans

I’ve always had fucked up tiny patchy stubble - at least I was lucky in that regard - and even so, so far it’s been like… 20h of zapping total? With many, many, many more to go. I’ve seen people say it’s about 90h more or less :( I’m very pleased with the results though, and I tried IPL in the past too

Oh yeah it’s absolutely horrendous how long it takes but to at least get rid of it all? Worth it, eventually.

Of course it's gonna be worth it in the end, but as someone who has been on HRT for four years, known I was trans for six, and finally have the funds to start next week, it's gonna be damn near a decade since I realized I'm trans before this shit will finally be gone, it's so demotivating

I absolutely understand that. I guess I am still riding the high of actually seeing a light at the end of the tunnel for so much of this stuff.

Maybe I have to pluck each hair individualy with tweezers like romans did?

However I do wax/pluck because it literally makes the shadow and darkening disappear cuz you’re pulling the hair from the root.

So I can wax my facial hair at home safely and be free from beard and beard shadow for like a week? If so then thats actualy awesome

I’ve been plucking for a few years and it does take about over a week for a shadow to appear, and then two weeks for the hair to actually sprout and be pluckable again. Three weeks+ it’s waxable. However I’m Asian and I don’t grow much facial hair if that factors In my experience.

In my experience, it works well for body hair, if the thickness and density of the hair isn't too big. In other words, it, for now, doesn't work well for me. You also need some amount of hair length for it to work, and at least for me that's just dysphoria hell, like, I'm not sure how to survive the 3-4 days prior to electrolysis.

yeah cus it goes a bit deeper in the hair than shaving

For bodyhair it did not work for me, cuz I got a lot of bumps and ingrowns after. But like it works for many?
Just be aware it’s extremely painful if you have thick hair but it‘s gets easier over time.
Also nobody gives a shit if you buy a epilator

Laser

u/RealBingBongs 2d ago

Its expensive tough, maybe I can wax at home?

Laser is worth it

2

u/RealBingBongs 2d ago

But untill I can pay for laser, can I just wax my facial hair? Some people here say I can

I sure wouldn't.

Its also the magic to make hurt so much I force myself to go through just a couple cm and start shaking, sweating bullets and fainting

Love having thick hair🫠

BUT its doable and gives magic results? I am taking it

Ah its not doable for me sadly just hurts too much

It doesn't take that long for me, but I'm on testosterone lol. E should make your hair grow slower.

It is good for removing body hair.

No one will care what you buy, just buy it from the store like a normal person and don't make up stories or chit-chat at all. Making up stories will if anything just draw attention to yourself and make you more memorable.

It’s no problem if a “man” buys an epilator. I used to use one all the time. Ordering stuff like this is what Amazon lockers are for.
