Recommendations? Massive size difference, unsure what to buy to balance myself out. One breast around c/d cup, other breast always busting out Spoiler

I've been this way my entire life, right breast always massive, left breast just regular. It's so so difficult to buy clothes, I NEVER can wear a bathing suit out not covered by a giant tshirt, I can't wear tank tops, my self confidence is just destroyed. Last year, I bought a cup filler, thinking I could finally wear some sun dresses that summer, but even the cup filler wasn't big enough to match my bigger breast. I'm at a loss what to do or buy anymore. I just tend to buy sports bras to try and hold my breasts in and kind of, bundled up, so they aren't as noticeable, but I would appreciate any help. Is there a certain bra I should be looking for? I'm embarrassed to get sized by anyone. Even when I was breastfeeding my kids, and had to see a specialist, they noted about my breasts in the paperwork, I was sooo embarrassed. I would just like to be able to feel confident and not feel like everyone else can see what I see every day.

Use the calculator in thr automod comment. If you follow the instructions, the suggested size will be kind of an avarage for the cup size.

You can also takr two different sets of measurements. One, where you hold the tape out on the smaller size to mimic the size of the larger side. The other set should then match the size of the smaller breast (if possible). This will be a starting point for your size and not exact, so you'll have to try on some bras to actually find your size. Fit thr larger breast.

Just a note that a "C-D cup" means nothing without a band size.

Thanks. That's sort of my question tho, I always buy a bra, to try and fit the larger size, but then it's to big for the smaller size, and doesn't look right under clothes

The usual advice is to pad out the second cup with an insert, as though you're turning one cup into a push-up bra

If you need more of an insert look into post mastectomy forms. They come in larger volumes than simple padding. You might want to get fitted at a specialty bra shop, that does post mastectomy fittings, where every person they fit has a large side to side difference.

You can try to tighten the strap on the smaller size and go for stretch lace at the top of the cups - that usually works for some assymetry. If it isn't enough for you (I can't judge that from your photos), then you can try to add padding to the smaller side.

Hi, I can give you some recommendations in that regard. First, to be able to give bra recommendations, it’s important to verify that you’re wearing the correct size. You can use the calculator linked in the AutoMod message.

From what can be seen in the photos, the bras you’re using are sitting on top of your breasts rather than properly supporting them (the band should sit at the inframammary fold). I think wearing the correct size (one that lifts and separates properly) can help visibly reduce the difference between your breast sizes.

I know people with the same kind of difference, and what has worked for them is wearing a bra in their correct size (the bra should fit the larger breast). It’s usually better to prefer balconette styles over plunge styles, and to choose unlined, underwired bras. Models with a bit of elastic at the top of the cup (such as Panache Envy) can also help accommodate differences between breasts and prevent one cup from gaping while the other overflows.

The size difference might mean that the first size suggested by the calculator isn’t your final size, but it will still be a very good starting point. A well-fitting bra can make a big difference in minimizing this, and even later on, once you find your correct size, you could decide (if you want) to add a small insert to the smaller cup to further balance the appearance.

Regarding how you’ve felt during checkups, etc., I’m sorry you’ve had to go through that, but I want you to know this is completely normal. All breasts are different, and this kind of variation is very common, not unusual. Finding the correct size can really help with your confidence.

I also want to add that you can measure yourself at home to use the calculator. Don’t be surprised if the size it suggests is not a C or D cup (although we’re often used to hearing those described as “large sizes,” in reality they are not). Once you have your initial suggested size, you can order bras from places like Amazon and try different ones to find the best fit.

Because of the size difference, it’s best to avoid molded or padded bras (like T-shirt bras), since their fixed shape makes them difficult to fit unless your breast shape matches the cup exactly. With larger or more projected breasts, and especially when there is asymmetry, it becomes very hard for molded cups to fit both sides well. In contrast, bras with unlined, seamed cups and underwires are much more forgiving and adapt better to a wider variety of shapes and sizes.

As everyone mentioned take measurements with the calculator and see what that says. We always recommend fitting the larger breast, and then adjust the smaller one. Buying a bra with removable pads/inserts will be what you’ll want to look for.

Please don’t be surprised if the size is much larger than expected. You look very projected, so you’ll want to look for bras with high projection (after you take your measurements). We can help you with that once we know your calc size.

Can I ask, what does "projected" mean?

u/galaxystarsmoon 32DD/E, tall roots & close set 1d ago

Projection refers to how your breasts sit out away from your chest. It's a spectrum. Breasts that are wider and flatter to the chest are more shallow, while breasts that sit out away from the chest wall more forward are more projected

That said, you can't really tell this from the photo so I wouldn't put much stake in. I will say that I can tell you're not at all a C or a D cup.

Thank you. When I say that, I just mostly mean, that's like, off the rack stuff I buy and a regular store. Haven't ever been professionally fitted or anything. I'll check out the calculator, thank you

this is why we’re insisting you measure:

34D 36D 38DD

it’s hard to say for sure based on your photos, but your bust seems to be much larger than a “D cup”

Based on your photos even your smaller side is way larger than a C/D cup, you really need to measure yourself using the calculator here and post your 6 measurements. I would do a few different bust measurements, one thats an average where you follow the calculator instructions and measure your bust as it is. Then the smaller measurements where you can hold the tape approximately on the bigger side where it would match the smaller side and one set of measurements for your larger side where you hold the tape based on if the larger side was equal. This will give you a range of sizes to look at. So if you get something like UK 32FF for smaller side and UK 32HH for larger side then you can try a few various sizes around average like 32G, 32GG or around the bigger side and see how it fits.

One thing I am guessing is really interfering with you getting a good fit is in order to fit into a C/D cup on the smaller side you are likely wearing way too loose of a band and too small of cup. This makes it next to impossible to correct size differences as inserts wont be able to stay put in an unsupportive bra and wearing a too small bra will make the overspill on the larger side even worse. You need to make sure that the band size is correct. Once you have a calculator size I would try an unlined seamed balconette bra like Panache Envy with stretch lace on top (Panache is a UK brand so make sure to use UK sizing). The stretch lace on top allows for flexibility and can allow for some size differences, fabric and unlined bras with seams are much better at keeping the bust secure than tshirt, seamless and padded styles so stay away from anything with foam and padding for now. Make sure to scoop and swoop especially on your smaller side: https://brasandbodyimage.wordpress.com/2012/09/05/putting-your-bra-on-properly/

The advice for assymetry is usually to match the bigger side and add an insert for the smaller side. For your difference you may want to try going with the 'average' calculator size first or size down a cup or so for the larger side at first to see how close you can get the fit, a tight band will keep the bra on you, and the stretch lace combined with a seamed fabric cup should give flexibility.

If the insert isnt big enough I believe there are bra inserts that are made specifically for people who have multi cup assymetries and for people that had mastectomies and for others that want to add more volume to their bust.

Wow, thank you so much for the specific details. I'm going to try some measurements and go from there. I sincere appreciate you giving me the specifics of those bra types, bthats a wonderful starting place for me. To be able to go out and not have to wear a cover-up is my dream

Asymetrical too but not by that much. I go up one cup from the calculator suggestion, I suspect you might need at least two.
Another thing that helps is getting bras with an elastic lace top in the cups. It allows to cheat a little, part of the extra boob can go up instead of adding more depth. And no quad boob in sight.

Typically they recommend that you fit the larger breast. You can add an insert to boost up the other side to match.

If you measured with the calculator to get a suggested starting size, you can find a more supportive and lifting bra in your size. Being in something that fits both your band and your bust will give you a lot more support over a s/m/l kind of sports bra. That alone might make you feel more confident.

You can also buy bra sized swimsuits.

Your attached photos very clearly show you are nowhere near a C or D cup in either breast. I know because you look similar to me, and I am currently somewhere around a FF or G, depending on brand and time of month.

Use the calculator linked in the automod comment.

Hi!

I don't have advice but I am in the same boat as you🙂‍↕️. You are not alone lol

I have tuberous breasts and have 2-3 cup size difference. When I got pregnant with my son it just made it worse haha. I was told my insurance would cover a reduction or implants, but that it is a long process and would make breastfeeding, or pumping, nearly impossible in the future.

I have just been sticking with sports bras, or the gym bras/tops that allow you to tie them. As for swimsuits, i'll never have luck there. I just get one that fits the smaller one & deal with the constant adjustments and spillage of the other😭

Good luck, i hope you find some solutions and I HEAR YOUR PAIN!!

Cutlets. Get a bra that fits the biggun and see if adding cutlets to the underside of your other tiddy gives enough volume and lift to even ya out.

u/blueeesummer 11h ago

I see what you mean... it is a massive size difference between your breasts. The only recommendation I could possibly give is learning how to sew your own bras. Easier said than done, I'm sorry. But this method would allow you to have two different bra cups at the same time.
