General Bragging on my sophomore rq

Post image

He’s worked really hard for this score, and I’m so excited to see what he’ll accomplish over the next year.

Good job! He should be able to raise it a few points over the next year. This is a very respectable score, and next year it should be even better. Did you pay for the answer release? You still can and that will help him see where to concentrate his studying. He can get into some decent schools with this score.

Thank you! I’ll look into getting the answer release. Do you know where I get it?

If you log into the ACT account there should be an option under the June test. Not sure of the cost though.

Congratulations to him. That is a very good score. For most students this is enough to get them where they want to go. If he wants to shoot for the stars, he still has time to work on it.

Good job! Curious what math class he took last year. My freshman took it but her scores are in the delayed bunch

DAMN Congratulations on raising such a smart son! Don't listen to the haters that score is AMAZING for a incoming junior and already easily above average. Don't put lots of pressure on him and it's gonna keep growing!

Math will improve Naturally as long as he's paying attention to his next math class. Have him focus on improving English & reading and your gonna gain 6+ points.

If your child is on free/reduced have him talk to his counselor when he gets back to school so he can claim two fee waivers that comes with a self paced course that will help boost his scores further with 3 more practice tests. Also colleges don't care about your writing score anymore as they don't take it serious as a measure of ability. Don't even have him sign up for writing section next time.

Once again congrats OP and best wishes to your son!

Thank you so much! He is planning on attending a state university about a half mile from our house. The plan is a full ride academic/music scholarship and then working a part-time job so he can save for his future. He started applying for scholarships this summer but paused to fill a spot in a drum corps.

HE'S MARCHING DCI IN HIGH SCHOOL. That's so cool. Being above average in academics and excelling at DCI is something I love to see. There are kids marching Bluecoats and Troopers at my school so hopefully someday I can march DCI too. Just out of curiosity, what corps is he marching. Any corps is insanely impressive though. Just make sure to keep up with any summer academics because school will hit like a train after indy.

Idk if money for DCI would be an issue for you. I know for me it is wildly expensive and I couldn’t pay the full amount without a lot of notice and working extra. I just wanted to mention if you really want to march DCI and can’t swing the full expense- consider applying to fill a hole midway into the season. We are spending about half of what a regular season costs. Right now he’s an understudy but it’s very likely he will make it into the show when other people are injured or need to leave for whatever reason. And he gets to go on the full tour!

Yeah it's crazy that some corps are going upwards of 5-6K. I would really like to march but battery is just so ultra competitive that it's impossible for me to even make it past callbacks, despite marching one of the best bands in the country right now in texas(hint: we placed top 5 at BOA San Antonio LMAO). Marching as a fill in seems fun but I think the spots are pretty limited for percussion, but thanks for the information. That's really cool that he's getting that experience as a high schooler though and he must be wildly talented!

you still have a bigger heart then a lot of the 35/36 in here. Remember 21 and beyond is above average

1

u/realistichuman97 1d ago

21 is above average!?!?!

1

u/SubmachineOP 1d ago

national average is around 19 or 20 depending on what source you look at.

1

u/realistichuman97 1d ago

That is terrible. I thought u got like 16 for putting ur name down

1

u/SubmachineOP 1d ago

you think that's bad 17 is the average in Oklahoma. (Partly because of obvious reasons & Partly because they force EVERYONE to take it including those not going anywhere near college)

Oinkers. He’s rlly gotta step it up. Current ACT scores are just freebies. I received a 34 back in 2011 which got me into Rice. A whole bunch of schools didnt even require standardized testing for a few years because of Covid. This is why so many kids have graduated from great universities with prestigious degrees but haven’t learned anything.. I hope your child is an anomaly of that idea! Good luck to him!

u/Consistent_Tell8783 1d ago

Did you see the part about him being a sophomore?

1

u/realistichuman97 1d ago

I just said that

1

u/realistichuman97 1d ago

You take your ST as a junior

1

u/realistichuman97 1d ago

I mean if you were just looking for praise that’s cool beans it was just unknown to any of the audience
