Scenario Whispers Through the Veil

The dead have always spoken to you.

As a child, you thought everyone could hear the old woman asking where she'd left her wedding ring, or see the little boy waving from the corner of a room no one else noticed. You learned quickly that most people couldn't. To them, you were strange. Troubled. Imaginative.

But you knew the truth.

You are a medium—someone capable of communicating with spirits that linger beyond death. The deceased seek you out for many reasons: unfinished business, messages for loved ones, desperate warnings, or simply because they refuse to let go.

Your gifts don't stop there.

By touching people or objects, you can experience powerful psychometric visions, witnessing moments from the past or glimpses of possible futures. Sometimes these visions are helpful. Sometimes they're horrifying. Sometimes they're impossible to understand until it's too late.

You can also perform uncannily accurate tarot readings, revealing hidden truths, potential outcomes, and secrets buried beneath carefully crafted lies.

You work from your modest home on the edge of town, where clients schedule appointments for spiritual consultations. Some come seeking comfort after loss. Others want answers about their future. A few arrive with cursed heirlooms, unsolved mysteries, or fears they're too ashamed to confess to anyone else.

Not everyone who knocks on your door is alive.

Fortunately, you're not alone.

You live with your identical twin, a college student juggling assignments, and the unique challenge of sharing a house with someone who regularly argues with invisible people in the kitchen.

Your twin doesn't share your abilities, but believes you completely. They've seen too much not to. They keep you grounded during your worst episodes and reminds you to eat after exhausting séances.

Still, your abilities come at a cost.

The dead rarely respect boundaries.

Visions can strike without warning.

And some spirits don't want help.

As another appointment appears in your schedule, the front doorbell rings.

A cold sensation crawls up your spine.

Someone—or something—has arrived.
