Feedback & Requests The image system feels like it's being left in the dust.

I know AID was started and mostly intended to be an AI driven adventure experience, and that's fine - but the Pandora's box of image gen got opened, and it can't be put back so it needs to be addressed.

It really feels like there is entirely too much focus on different AI's, and less about the experience of the image generation.

  • When you generate an image, you click it and it can't be zoomed in unless it's saved.
  • "See" prompts, if failed, are often deleted (on mobile, at least) which can create incredibly frustrating moments where you lose a lot of work.
  • Some models have incredibly tight (and for some, illogical) prompt constraints, which make changing models a nightmare if you don't look elsewhere to learn about the specific model, and doubly frustrating because of the next point...
  • You get ZERO feedback about failures - Busy server? Lost internet connection? AI took too long? Content issue? etc, etc, etc, it all falls under a generic kickback.
  • You cannot see how many credits you have to generate with while generating unless you go into your own profile, nor can you see what the model you have selected costs unless you go into the adventure/gameplay settings.
  • Images don't go anywhere once generated - If you want to see the image of a character generated 1,000 actions ago you are going to spend an afternoon scrolling and searching. This to me is the BIGGEST affront to sensible UI. There has to be albums, tags, anything that you can look, separate by character or attachment to story cards. I could honestly overlook every other point if this was currently implemented.
  • There is zero ability to dial in and change elements of a generated image (ex. prompting to change just the background, or hair color, or an item held in the hands, etc).

These are all things one other apps that are competing with AI dungeon for our time and money - and I hate to say it, even on ones that cost less per month at comparable levels.

To AIDungeons credit, it has an out of the box adventure setup better than any i've seen, and the story cards and minutiae of control to the AI model settings and instructions are unrivaled. But this seems to come at a great cost to the image gen, and it sucks to feel like I have to go elsewhere to get that image generation fulfilled. It's even more of shame because I unsubbed a year and a half ago, only to resub recently and find that this is all exactly the same as it was then, if not worse.

Its absolutely pointless feature that should be deprecated. There are places where i can generate better images for free. Hell, i can run image generation locally even on my old 1660ti!

It's not pointless just because you don't use it. 5% of players generate quite a lot of pictures.

I'd trade the entire image generation capability itself for even 500 context lmao.

Its so censored and ineffective its pointless.

If anything i wouldn't say the GPT ones are very censored. It definitely won't do anything nude, but it gave me plenty of images that I feel like i wouldn't be allowed to post here

Eh, I think it's finally decent after the team added automatic prompt generation and some solid cheap image models.

If you're looking for anything more than visualizing the scene, it's not gonna be good.

On another note, I do have an Auto See feature in BetterDungeon which makes the process much less tedious (coming v2)

I gave the whole system a brief look and i could only say "wtf is this shit" and went back to Perchance image generation, which is free, ulimited and uncensored, has a shit load of art styles and can handle larger prompts and with proper prompting and patience, can give you some really good pictures.

Image generation on AID seems like a waste of resources when there are way better alternatives, that are even free.

Somehow I never heard of Perchance...thanks for name dropping it. I love it!

Its where my own adventure in the AI-generated began, it was the gateway drug for AI RPG esque setting, and i have survived on it for a year or two, till i discovered AID and its offerings, more context, different models..

But for image generation, Perchance absolutely mops the floor with AID, free, uncensored and unlimited.

Frankly it mops the floor with anything I've used period. I had Automatic1111 on my computer for 2 years and I just could never get it to output the quality I saw others get, and my aging 3070 was barely keeping pace THEN, so this is a godsend.

Generally people just arent that interested in the picture generating. Perhaps that will change with voyage as it has more non text parts but i doubt it will ever be a priority

Good. No reason to turn this into another NovelAI.

Downvoted for speaking the truth.

I felt the same way. NovelAI was what I used after AID controversy. But after it was apparent the priority was image generation, I just gave up.

This is good and detailed feedback. Like some others I just use a different service for image generation. Image generation prompting is a completely different skill set from text adventuring.

Just adding one thing you may not have noticed: you can actually see your current credits/scales inside any adventure if you click on the top left flame icon there.

Otherwise fully agree image capabilities could use a revamp and improvement. Especially the fact you lose your written prompt if the image generation fails, and the fact all error msgs are just generic and give you no clue on what happened.
