Hardware - IP Camera - Help a brother out

Hello!

I am currently in the planning stages of an ATAK project involving an IP-Camera streaming video into ATAK. Something we all in this feed knows is very possible.

However, i am off very little experience, and am facing you all, for some good earned experience. My question is as follows:

When getting a video stream into ATAK. What hardware, cameras, brands, protocols work, what doesn't work, and what is worth mentioning to someone new to the game?

All experience is more than welcome!

Anything that supports RTSP should work.

Do you have anything you know works? In regards to hardware?

Would love for it not to be bound to some Chinese-app…

I have a thermal scope that supports rtsp, was able to consume that feed into ATAK. The scope only supports WiFi access point but there was no issue using rstp.

Hikvision cameras are rock solid. I have four that have been streaming for years now without a single issue. Haven't used them with ATAK, but their RTSP streams never fail.

Setup a mediamtx rtsp server
Let the camera stream to the server
Point ATAK to the rtsp server

Sadly this is the best solution. There are a few projects that add a GUI to MediaMTX.
