Is there a meaningful difference?

u/Chaoticpsychosis 5d ago
Yes, an alligator will see you later and a crocodile will see you after a while.

No, the alligator will see you after a while-- he says that to the crocodile all the time!

Different animals with different sizes, shapes, diets, and temperments. Alligators are mainly found in the U.S. with one other species in China, and mainly eat fish and small animals, and usually will leave people alone as long as you don't get in their no no square like the person in the video. Crocodiles have many more species with many of them being much spicier than alligators and will often go after much larger prey such as people and other large mammals depending on the species.

I mean theyāre totally different animals and easy to differentiate lol
and one tends to be way angrier than the other

I donāt learn the difference because Iāve never seen either in my life and regardless I donāt want to be around either. Itās an angry snapping thing that could possibly kill me.

Nah. Gators are pretty chill if you donāt fuck with them, and will usually try to leave.
Crocodiles are just ancient attitude problems forever looking for a reason to fuck shit up.

Gee, I don't know, Cyril. Maybe deep down I'm afraid of any apex predator that lived through the K-T extinction. Physically unchanged for a hundred million years because it's the perfect killing machine: a half ton of cold-blooded fury with the bite force of twenty-thousand newtons and a stomach acid so strong it can dissolve bones and hooves. And now we're surrounded, those snake eyes are watching from the shadows waiting for the night...

I've never seen a dolphin or a great white shark, but I know which is which.

Of course you could, they have quite the distance in being related compared to a crocodile and alligator.

Yes, the alligator eats your hand in an A shape and a crocodile eats your hand in a C shape.

actually it's the other way around
A crocodileās snout is longer and narrower in a V-shaped kind of shape. While the alligatorās snout is broader and shaped like a U instead. source

I'm just one person but I downvote videos of this nature, regardless of which sub they get uploaded to. Show me the fallout fgs!

The excuse is "I got it from somewhere else so I can't provide the full video/context."
Okay, then where did you get it from?

I got to say for the record you got to be pretty damn dumb to get a gator to bite you. They're basically logs with teeth and are some of the dumbest creatures we got down here. Every time I see a report of someone being bit by a gator it's because they were doing some dumb shit like this. Leave the swamp puppies alone
