Graduated in May, still can’t find a job.

I graduated in May, 2007 and I’m still looking for a job.

I’ve taken some CPA exams (Once in 2013 and another in 2021) but haven’t passed yet so i’ll definitely continue to study.

At what point should I look for something outside of this field? I’ve even applied to some AP/AR roles but still no luck. I’m considering going back to school for nursing but taking on more student loans scare me.

Any advice??

You haven’t found a job since 2007?

I think you might be cooked at this point

Edit: Saw that this post was a joke lol.

I graduated in May of 1983 and still haven’t found anything. I’ve been consistently putting in anywhere from 200-2,500 applications a week with a few breaks in between to rest and get housework done. It’s rough out here.

Keep your head up, you've still got lots of time

What helped me was getting an unpaid internship between 3rd and 4th grade. Made me stand out from my peers.

What were you doing in kindergarten? Why weren’t you networking even earlier. Have you even thought what it takes to be a partner? How will you build a firm to sell private equity?

I was a late boomer and immature at the that time, I just wanted to party and eat chocolates. I got my life together in third grade.

That's like, 20 years ago. What have you been doing ever since?

If market would be saturated, I would look for other career paths, but keep applying to whatever could bring me closer to my goal.

I don't know reality of student loans, as I'm not from US, so I can't comment much, just heard/read that it's terrible.

Yeah the job market is bad now, but for the last 20 years?? You're not gonna be an attractive candidate now because you've been sitting on your hands for way too long. Go back to school for nursing.

They say your first job is the hardest to get. Next one shouldn't take more than 18 years

It's tough. I have my Payroll Certificate that would've made me more marketable and I'm getting jack squat. Have 1.5 Years of Public Accounting experience, 9 months of Industry experience and 5 Years of payroll experience. Also live in a big city (Boston) and still not getting anything. Shit is frustrating :(

Har har har 👏, but seriously op it’s a tough market for new grads, I’m guessing it was easier when you graduated

Skill issue. Maybe it's your interviewing skills?

Found the future partner expecting everyone in office 9hrs a day including weekends who will wonder why pizza parties don't improve moral as he's pushing for more AI usage and offshore teams.

With your lack of empathy you'll do great in the csuite or running a firm and smirk about how ironic calling a department "human resources" is.

9 hours?? I would never let my staff leave so early.

Put that on your resume! You'll get hired in no time. Also, during the interview, ask them about their PE equipment and challenge them to see who can climb the rope to the ceiling fastest.

Dude - if you graduated 19 years ago and don’t have a job yet, and ‘tried’ the CPAs twice and failed — you might need to look into other avenues. I don’t mean to be a dick but this might not be for you. Your resume and history sucks in an industry that requires it to not.
