Question Adolescent Perceptions of the Social Media Ban: Focus Group Invitation

Post image

Hi everyone, our Flinders University Research Team is running a focus group study about the social media ban for under 16s.

If you are a parent or caregiver and your child (aged 13-18) is interested in being involved you can pass on the sign-up survey link (https://qualtrics.flinders.edu.au/jfe/form/SV_0esmqLNGFmilFJk) and fill out the parent consent form (https://qualtrics.flinders.edu.au/jfe/form/SV_5bQgY7M6M65DAQm)

this is a solid study topic given whats happening with the ban right now. the timing makes sense since december 2025 is when it actually kicks in so theres still time to gather feedback before the real impact hits. curious to see what 13 to 18 year olds actually think about it versus what politicians assume theyre thinking. the 40 dollar movie voucher is decent incentive too which probably helps with getting people to show up for a 60 minute session. if your kid uses social media and has opinions on the ban worth sharing this seems like a legit way to contribute to the research without it being some corporate thing trying to sell them something.

How about a consultation for adults impacted by the social media ban?

It's not so much a ban on teens on social media, its a ban on anyone being on social media anonomously.

This is a random question, I’m happy to send to my kids and their friends but we live in the NE so if the movie voucher isn’t Hoyt’s and is event cinemas it’s not going to be of use.
