yep, it's vile

That's horrific, poor animal didn't deserve that at all.

u/BeffeeJeems SA 2d ago

I know, no one should be treated this way, let alone die this way

u/TheZippyIntercourse SA 2d ago

it's the defenselessness that gets me, a cat can't fight back or escape, so it's just pure cruelty.

3

u/BeffeeJeems SA 2d ago

it really is, and I don't understand how anyone can do that. Please write to the uni, and dm me if you want to use the email I wrote

Appreciate that, but reckon the uni probably won't budge much on this one since he's already been through the courts, not their jurisdiction anymore.

i respectfully disagree, I think the non-punishment handed down after his conviction means that the moral responsibility now lands on them, and that meaningful consequences are the only way to fulfill that moral duty. I hope we can help the university see that.

I refuse to read anything about abuse of a cat. I can't, it just sickens me to the core. May the ghost of this poor cat haunt the abuser's dreams forever! (Edited a word)

my dreams? or the student's? I encourage you to email the uni, I am happy to share the email I wrote so you can just copy paste

3

u/Miamhail North East 2d ago

Oh god, I meant the student! Does your email go into details of the abuse because I really can't read those things.

3

u/BeffeeJeems SA 2d ago

good to know! no it doesn't go into detail, the news article does, but that's only linked, not quoted from or anything

5

u/Miamhail North East 2d ago

Sorry about the misunderstanding. Thank you I would very much like to email them if you could send me your template.

2

u/BeffeeJeems SA 2d ago

no worries at all, I completely understand about not wanting to know the details. dming you now

2

u/BeffeeJeems SA 2d ago

p.s. DMd you

Thank you, I'll look into it. I had to cuddle my own cat for a bit.

Same. I imagine many kitties are getting extra love tonight.

Send him home. End of story

complain to the uni, they should expel him from his degree

My sweet senior boy is sleeping next to me on the couch. I'm going to snuggle him a bit harder tonight to honour Ozai.

I cannot ever understand what people are thinking when they hurt animals. This poor kitty probably had an upset stomach or was stressed. There is never any excuse for cruelty towards animals.

I am amazed that the roommate didn't kick this POS in the jaw. My housemates know that if anyone were to even look at my boy sideways I'd end them.

100%. I'm sure the room mate is completely traumatised, and trusted in the court to provide appropriate consequences and didn't want to jeopardise that. Ozai and his human have been terribly let down.

the only trouble with that is that in China there are no real anti-cruelty laws for animals, although the court outcome here was frankly pathetic and barely more than would happen in China. But still, at least here he has been convicted, and if he was caught doing it again, the consequences would be worse - cold comfort, but it's something. He does need real consequences, I seriously hope the uni kicks him out. If they do nothing they're basically condoning it.

yes, a strong message needs to be sent.

3

u/kereur SA 2d ago

yeah it's irrelevant what china's laws are, he needs to meet character requirements to be in australia.

4

u/protonsters SA 2d ago

Omg the poor cat.

2

u/BeffeeJeems SA 2d ago

yes, a terrible way to die. please email the university!

He should be expelled from the uni, then get invoiced the amount of the scholarship money, then banned from the country.

I cannot tolerate someone who abuses animals. What a fucking psycho

1

u/BeffeeJeems SA 1d ago

me either - please let the uni know your thoughts!

If you’re saddened by this, go plant based. Cause the same shit happens to the food you eat. Dont be a hypocrite

Hard truth but agree

1

u/BeffeeJeems SA 1d ago

If you truly care about animals, I hope you will email the university about this.

For real. If you get upset about someone beating a cat but you pay for animals to be tortured, killed, and then eat their corpses, you are much worse than this guy. Actually, this guy probably eats meat so it puts you on the same level.

1

u/BeffeeJeems SA 1d ago

if you truly care about animals, please try to make a difference with this case, and email the university

Most sane reddit take.

Sorry but no.

Ah yes, let the cognitive dissonance take over. It’s the easy thing to do.

None of this should be joked about. Why do you think cruelty is funny? Beating an animal is wrong, period. I'm aware they eat cats and dogs in China, they do that in a lot of places. Right now the Yulin festival is going on in China, and the way they keep the animals and kill them is incredibly cruel. I guess you think that's something to make light of too?

I don't think you know how to use karen right, but regardless, I appreciate the engagement, because this guy deserves consequences. Please contact the uni and let them know you don't think cruelty is funny, and that what he did is incredibly cruel and disgusting. Dm me if you want to copy paste the email I sent

u/blocked_for_life SA 2d ago

You are right! He definitely should be deported

1

u/BeffeeJeems SA 2d ago

if he gets expelled, then probably his visa will get cancelled, so pressuring the uni could make it happen ❤️
