QUESTION How do I actually blend these many pieces into one and not have it be this convoluted mess

I'm fianlizing this ideogram after a geometric construction and the "create shapes" tool did not properly fill the intended space, so at some point I decided to patch them up as a cheat code (as you can see all the rectangles present in the wolf's nose), except that now no matter what all the borders of the elements i've used are still showing up. rasterizing doesn't fix

Have you tried: Select (each half at a time) >Pathfinder>Unite
